Re: Notch is back at It again Better than food eating animat

Ported games are never the 'real' thing. They're always a variant version because all the console companies have their own requirements and stances. And when I say modding will be actively discouraged, I mean it will be discouraged in this form. Any mod that will be downloaded will have to come thro...

Re: Notch is back at It again Better than food eating animat

As someone who works with the Xbox LIVE department, I can confirm that Minecraft is indeed coming to XBLA, and that modding will not be supported, and in all likelihood actively discouraged.

Re: Water Scoop (Shishi Odoshi) for post Hand Crank Power

From an aesthetics point of view, I would love to have this. However, from a practical point of view I do not exactly see the point. The only block I'm aware of that needs intermittent power is the bellows, and even if there are more blocks that need it in the future, the turntable already adequatel...

This is actually decently relevant. Do the turtles or forum mods have ability to take this on?

Re: FlowerChild and the ninja Turtles have this shit covered

I think you should take it as a compliment that you've inspired people by what you did, and also that people are requesting that you do it instead of notch should tell you something. Believe me, FC is very happy that he's inspired people with his work - he's commented on that more than once. Howeve...

I don't want to discourage discussion on this, but there is a thread titled BTW: Design Philosophy that you should check out in this forum. There is a lot of discussion similar to what you are talking about in there. :)

Re: Glass jars through extending pottery?

This sounds tricky to code for me. It sounds like it could lead to full storage containers (jars) within storage containers (chests). I know many games do not let you do this, and technicalities are often cited as why.

Just my two cents.

I no longer have my first few worlds. They were lost during a computer upgrade, sadly. However, I know I am just beginning to have better design credentials. At least on the inside. I still build boxes. I don't like that but I'll fix it eventually.

Re: Dyes in Cauldrons

As far as real life dyeing goes (a hobby of mine), this is actually semi-accurate. Dyes are often applied to cloth and other materials by disolving them in a liquid, heating said liquid, and then soaking the material in the liquid dye. I've dyed various things in a stock pot on the stove before. :) ...
