Finding the new Soulforged Steel Block property
Finding the new Soulforged Steel Block property
In BTW 3.91, if you shoot an arrow on an SFS block and then get water to touch it (which as always makes a slurp noise), the arrow will move a bit and make the "Arrow Hit" sound effect. Like when you shoot and arrow on a block and destroy it.
EDIT: It is because the block is updated, it has nothing to do with the new feature.

Re: New SFS bug, or feature
Just an idea, graphite's thread about that picture made me realise, what is something all of these SFS features got in common?
They are all connected to the elements:
Redstone is synthesised from netherrack, and when powered generates smoke
We may think that SFS is just heavy in water, but what if it's actively pulling us down? After all, SFS blocks seem thirsty (it would also explain why SFS armour sinks, but iron and gold don't)
The steel itself is made from iron, from the earth (ok, bit of a stretch)
So, what's missing?
Has anyone tried bellows on the steel? (or maybe the smoke/redstone)

Bellows don't work though.
Maybe we should use all of the elements at once on the SFS block? Touch it with water, "heat"/"burn" it with redstone, blow on it with the bellows and something else?
remember, there might also be a chance that the bellows don't work yet.

Re: New SFS bug, or feature
Anyone try passing XP over a hopper with the steel block in the filter slot? Idk if this is even possible, but it seems like something that might not have been tried yet. *shrug*
Re: New SFS bug, or feature
perhaps try putting it over a stoked fire?

Re: New SFS bug, or feature
The "arrow hit" thing is a general MC thing when a block receives an update. You can try it with various vanilla blocks and you'll see that the same thing happens.
Re: New SFS bug, or feature
The new property is that it chuckles quietly to itself while people try to do everything they can think of to figure out what's changed :D

Re: New SFS bug, or feature
Haven't had time to test any of this yet but if we assume that the stronghold devices relate to realms of Air, Water, and Earth.
Possible reactions for Earth:
Dirt, stone earth and ore reactions.
Reaction with vegetation and plant life. (Not sure if vegetation has an occult relation to Earth but it has had a thematic one.)
Possible reactions for air:
Reacts with Bellows (Think this has been disproved)
[Attracts/Can be made to attract] lightning during thunderstorms. (Building a giant lightning rod above a stronghold to perform an occult ceremony which will most likely result in a perversion of science and nature? It just sort of... fits.)

Other things that don't seem to work:
-Growing a tree "into" it (Earth?)
-Growing a Bloodwood tree "into" it (Earth?)
-Hitting it with a tuning fork
-Throwing potions of all kinds on it
-Covering it with Cement (Earth?)
-Various tests with the Dragon Egg
-Lighting it from all sides
-Getting a cloud to pass through it (Air?)(I honestly thought it would work :P)
-Exploding it using a LOT of TNTs
-Tilling it with a hoe (Earth?)
-Getting smoke to touch it (Air?)
-Covering it with snow
-Covering it with ice
-Tickling it with a feather (Air?)
-Covering it with Mining Charges, exploding them all at once

Did you try using lens to shine on it (my world is very far behind after BTB death)? Or applying gratuitous amounts of placenta? Applying dung?

or when?
(or who)
Re: Finding the new Soulforged Steel Block property
As it is a "property" it might as well be that it allows redstone to carry over or triggers a block updates on some specific event.

All three, in fact.
I also tried using the smoke it generates to mutate cows. No effect.
FlowerChild: So, it might be where to place it...or maybe we need to use Hoppers/crucibles/etc. on it.

well, I've tried placing it in other dimensions, hell, I even built a "The Device" in each dimension, the one in the overworld at spawn.
