On the right side of the picture there is a tree taking up a quarter of the image.

Bystander: Oooo a cupcake.
And the cycle continues until someone builds an immunity to it or we all die. Either way it has got to suck being the last person alive..

Look at the leaves, they don't look like any tree I've seen in-game.

Plus, I do believe that's the desert. Never seen a tree in the desert in Minecraft.

I was thinking beach trees, because of the water but yea. I think I am the first to actually see the tree instead of the endermen.

You've never spawned in the middle of a desert before, have you?

That isn't a tree - it's a giant mushroom.

Now now Kat, we aren't interested in flashbacks to your debaucherous psychedelic binges.

Man, my grandparents did psychedelic drugs in the 70s, not me. I'm the end product of said binges, not a participant. (In that regard, I serve as a great deterrent to not do drugs!)

Oh. I do believe Kat is correct. I wasn't even thinking about the 'shrooms.

Ah well. I was more of a participant myself, so I guess in terms of modding anyways, I may be more of an encouraging factor ;)

Don't you think you are overrating notches Ai coding capabilities here? :p I dont really see them doing much. Take a block here and there occasionally that might stop your devices from working until you replace it. No big deal i think, just really annoying. That is if they dont take a block that releases a flow of water and ruins your entire redstone wiring offcourse...
Anyway if they would be capable of destroying player build constructions whitout there being some sort of obvious defense for it, Notch would get lynched by the entire minecraft community. I wouldn't worry about them much.

Oh and i noticed that a certain announcement sticky got lost on his way to the suggestion subforum and ended up in this one. Could someone give it the right directions? ;)

The best way i can think of to defend against the endermen is a wall 4-5 stone blocks tall with an overhang all surrounded by cactus trees making a big wall of pain, the inside of the compound though would need to be well lit.

Depending on their AI, you might potentially be able to keep them away with merely water flows if they follow the same behavior as all other mobs. They can pick up water (it seems so from the screen shot at least) but probably only source blocks. Having a moat with water flowing outwards should keep them from reaching the source blocks at all.

Or, you know, just go with saws.

I can envision nice little builds involving TNT and a set altering inverters. "Do you feel lucky, enderman? Well, do you?"

Even though Notch said that all the Endermen videos are fake, if it even slightly resembles what this video is like, I will never play minecraft again.

I never got that. A video game has never scared me. Maybe startled me, but creeped out or scared? Never...

The Thief-series has some pretty scary moments. The haunted hotel level in Vampire: Bloodlines is also something better played during daylight :) They're the unsettling kind (think "The Shining"), not the in-your-face kind (think most crap horror movies, e.g. Scream).

Well, if you are talking about scary or creepy in games, i instantly think of "Amnesia: the dark descent"
since i played it. Dear something, that game has had me jumping up from my chair multiple times.
It was good fun though, if you are into that kind of games.
