Re: Considering dropping Forge
However, as to whether she's more talented than I am (which seems to be what you're implying), man, there's a lot of variables to that equation and I wouldn't even want to hazard a guess You're certainly very talented yourself, FC. My admiration for your work has grown considerably since I started ...

Re: Considering dropping Forge
Eloraam is an exceptionally good programmer. I know this thread is nominally about the Forge, but really it's about her, and I want to put this on record. Even in a group of good programmers, she's uncommonly talented. Her implementations are elegant, effective, and reliable, which is more than I ca...

Re: A Method To Locate Dungeons
Isn't it possible to use the seed to calculate where the closest spawner should be? In principle yes, assuming you're using a world generated entirely with a single algorithm. Mojang frequently changes it, though, so chunks generated by older versions often don't match the worldgen algorithm of the...

Re: A Method To Locate Dungeons
Searching for the nearest mob spawner would thus not be as easy. It would actually probably be pretty performance intensive. If it was done with a naive block-by-block search it certainly would be. But I'm pretty sure there are other, saner ways to do it. The question is whether it's worth modifyin...

Launching lit dynamite?
I've looked at the obvious candidates for this, but it doesn't seem possible with the BD or the ordinary dispenser. Is there a way that I haven't thought of?
For the record, this isn't a serious request. I just thought it would be fun to build a grenade launcher for shits and giggles :)

Re: Suggestion for the wiki
I suppose a mill stone is useful without hemp (to make flour) but the opposite is not true, so it makes sense to create the mill stone first. I don't really know for sure, though. What I do know is that this belongs in the Discussion for the Ages page. This sort of thing is the reason wiki discussio...

I actually just started a thread to that effect, after reading this one. I guess "great" minds think alike :).Magmarashi wrote:I've wondered for a while why excess plant matter couldn't be combined with bonemeal and water and converted slowly over time into compost.

Compost
I've been reading through some of the suggestion threads recently, and thought I'd bring up the idea of a compost heap. This is specifically to address what to do with surplus seeds , but I think it also creates an outlet for other organic byproducts like saplings, cactus, sawdust , and rotten flesh...
