Lightning damage mitigation

The new fire and lightning mechanics are awesome and make forest fires a real threat, but I feel like the method of prevention and mitigation is far too end game. Lightning rods requiring steel takes so long to get that I feel like there's nothing for me to do but drop everything I'm doing and run around putting out fires during a storm. Not to mention it punishes decorative use of trees and tall grass. It's a great threat early game, but I feel like there should be a method of at least partially mitigating lightning in the mid-late game pre-end.

Actually, it's the opposite :)

ANYTHING non-flammable currently acts as a lightning rod. You could use cobble and it would work as well as the SFS lightning rod. What's important now is just what's the highest point in an area.

I actually do need to do more work on it, but it's in the opposite direction you're suggesting: I need to tighten things up to give lightning rods meaning again, because right now I erred on the side of being too forgiving while I continue to refine the system.

Ah ok I guess I misunderstood the mechanics then. Nevermind, and thanks for the clarification :)
