About chopping blocks and wither skeletons

So we recently had a discussion on Vioki's stream about the viability of using chopping blocks to kill wither skeletons, because of an old bug, so I'm posting this for anyone that is having problems.

I just tested it, and they do work, but if you place the saw on their head level (third block) they will suffocate and the saw won't hurt them.

If you place it on the second block it works as intended. Just take care not to lose your own head :)

That's interesting. So we don't need to put a chopping block at head level, you need saw + chopping block two high?

I'll have to give that a try.

Yep. Hum, I thought the chopping block only worked if on the same level as the saw, is that not the case?

Are you guys luring the skeletons into your trap manually? or has anyone perfected an actual nether fortress trap yet?

It's easier in BTW, because the boxes where they can spawn are bigger. I haven't attempted one yet, but it shouldn't be too hard. The hard part is usually reducing spawns outside of the farm. Nether groth time?

Also the panic that sets in when you have a wither skeleton running after you, can induce mistakes XD

Edit.
Oh, you're talking about a trap, not a "lure" trap :P My mistake
