All my observations from my countless hours of playing mc seem to comply with what you said though. If something else is going on it must be very obscure or hard to come across/notice.

New mob farm design - why use saws, when you can use cows?

Not a bad idea. Anyone who has BD tech, Do they set off cows? I'm not that far yet myself, sadly.

Nope, they don't.

Extending the functionality to devices used in automation would have necessitated a lot of overhead testing for nearby entities whenever such a device was triggered. Considering blocks like the BD are potentially used in large numbers and are fired in rapid succession, that could have easily turned into a performance sink without any significant benefit.

My bovine pit in front of my base entrance worked well enough on a passive basis. No matter how many mobs wandered in, it was inevitable that one would be a zombie that tried to chow down on one of the densely packed Bessies.

Finally got to the stage where I need to get leather and had the time of my life! I usually go out and build dirt and sand walls around cows and let them suffocate with sand or gravel because of hardcore cows, but since the changes I have had to go hunting bow and arrow style!

I must say FC it is great! If feels so natural! and not cheaty. and it was fun chasing after them and watching the sheep fly XD
