and i already lost 15 of the 32

and the timing is so that should not be heaping.

so any one has any idea on what is causing it, how to fix, or has a design where this can't happen?

Done.

Sheep are slightly higher than 1 tall so they won't suffocate here.

Here's an alternative that you can use with a timer, or just leave manual. It's also the cheapest when doing large scale sheep sheering. It's the one I use. I cannot claim credit for the design though, the creator would be Battosay.

Easily tiled and you only have to use a repeater every 2 or 3 sections, depending on how many sheep you put in each section. Also make sure you leave grass under the fence areas. I believe the problem with the design your using is on a random chunk loading lag, the tick is just off enough that your BD places wool after the piston retracts on one instance, then 1 minute later, that piston pushes the block down onto your sheep. I have my whole sheep farm on a 5 minute timer using the setup I linked, the BD's are getting close to full, and no dead sheep yet.

I've a question, is the buddy block triggered when the grass is eaten?
Because the next update might be changing that..

They pretty much broke BUDs in general with 1.5, and considering BTW introduces a BUD block I imagine that will be corrected by FC

Edit: Re-reading it, if it does present an issue, I'll come up with a fix for the design.
