Sometimes I like to play MC adventure maps but most of the time I find the puzzles to simplistic or they make a parkour course over lava. This has left me wanting for something better. I have been thinking of how BTW would be wonderful as a basis for an adventure map but the one obstacle I have found is save points. I know that FC doesn't support this type of play, nor do I want him to change anything about the BTW. What I would like is some feedback form anyone that has any ideas on how I could make save points without using beds.
One way I thought of doing this was to make one central room that you always come back to after you complete a puzzle and a new path is open to you. This would be fine if I make a labyrinth but if I make a big map I don't know how well this will work.

Is it better to have posted and failed or to have never posted at all?

Re: Save points for adventure maps
I would think the command block should remove any need for beds or central checkpoint systems for adventure maps.
Re: Save points for adventure maps
Thank you! I totally forgot about the command block since I don't play with them. That helped a lot but I still would like to play with as few of them as possible if I could. Other suggestions would still be appreciated.Miss_Kat wrote:I would think the command block should remove any need for beds or central checkpoint systems for adventure maps.

Re: Save points for adventure maps
Yeah, The command blocks will make this easy to add.
As a side note, making an adventure map, a nice mean one, is something I've been wanting to do for a while. I've been watching all of Sethbling's and Vech's videos, as well as slowly compiling a list of all the features of the command blocks and lots of evil traps. I've even been watching FVDisco's videos and taking apart his games to see how they work.
I know casinodoug had some interest in creating a super hostile map, and we chatted about it for a little while in the IRC a couple weeks/months back.
Currently saving up my wages to buy all the parts for a sweet gaming computer. Once I have a computer of my own, this will certainly be something I will be serious about creating.
Good to know there are some people here that are also interested. ^_^

Re: Save points for adventure maps
This had been a concern for me, as I am making a CTM map, with one and a half out of 16 areas done, and this will prove very useful.
