If (as it would be the logical thing) emeralds are eventually craftable into an Emerald block, then there is a use for the easy-to-accquire block - The Emerald City ;) (launches into songs from The Wizard of Oz, or preferably, "One Short Day" from Wicked.
Yeah, I'm in an odd mood today ...

Perfect and perfect! (If we can find a way to display the gimp suit, that is).
Although, as I said, I prefer Wicked to TWoO. ;).

Yes ;).
*to the tune of "Over The Rainbow"*
Somewhere in the Nether,
Ghasts do cry,
While Steve bottles souls,
So Zombie Pigmen can die.

But wouldn't that mean we could just click the heels of our Soulforged boots to show back up in Kansas?

Trust me, Splee, if the anniversary update really *is* an extra dimension, I'll be clicking my SFS boots as quick as I can ;).

I wouldn't be surprised if Mojang never actually implemented that.

At this point I'm completely ignoring Emeralds. As I see it, any "use" for them is just trying to justify a pointless feature after the fact. I don't think they add an ounce of shit to the game and would prefer this whole half-assed idea that has just been added to the game instead of the the more complicated / anticipated and desired features is bunk.

True, it is perhaps a tad foolish to expect them to act logically at this point ...

I'll probably ignore them completely, too. Although if I find myself with a surplus of vanilla materials due to automated systems, then I will be selling them to create the emerald city. Which is the one and only time I will allow the existence of emeralds to be acknowledged.

Haha. Right. That's decided then. Although I will buy nothing from villagers, I will sell them all sorts of bits and bobs in order to make the Emerald City ;).

If you did this on a server I would be happy to join you. Wizard of Oz was my favorite book and movie as a child.

Gargantuan, once BTW goes multiplayer (so that emerald trading materials are produced as a surplus in automation - I don't really want to go about wasting time gathering materials for it when it can be used doing other things), we can set this up ;).

Yes, that's right! Music blocks set up to play "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" and "One Fine Day"!

Now, are Iron Golems our Flying Monkeys, or do we make them the scarecrow?
