Re: Fix your shit, YouTube.
So in short:
-Video Actually Starts Around 1:30
-YouTubers are loosing subs because of the YouTube team deleting un-active viewers (not a big deal due to the YouTubers not actually getting views from these accounts)
-'New Algorithm' is un-subbing many active users
-Big YouTubers Loosing many subs a day (ranging from 50-1000)
-YouTube sent a post to all YouTubers (on their blog) regarding the problems.
Break Down Of What Goes On Where:
-01:30-10:00 initial talking about problems (background information)
-10:00-15:00 guy rages about the bug
-15:00-19:00 He then shows comments and proof of the problem
-19:00-30:00 final rage and more talking
-30:00-31:12 Concluding statements
**note: I put this here because i feel that 30 min videos of people talking are boring, hopefully it helps some of you get the point a lot quicker. ^_^/

Why does it matter how many subscribers you have, exactly?
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Re: Fix your shit, YouTube.
The number of subscribers counts for the following reason:
Many people who care about YouTube deeply are monetizing their videos. While video views don't always translate directly to money earned, it's something roughly equivalent. For example - if I had started monetizing my videos from day one, I'd probably have somewhere around $30 for my efforts now. The general thinking that seems to be about is views come from people sharing things with their friends, or going with the crowd once you are large enough. Your subscribers act as your base of friend sharing, and folks who already have a lot of subscriptions are more likely to get new people to check out than RandomYouTuber69 who has three subscriptions.
I'm not saying the above reasoning is correct, but that's why they're getting bent out of shape about it.

tl;dr: Bragging rights.
So, are the higher ups at YouTube trying to, you know, fix the problem? Or is that why this video was posted?
Also, the guy's shirt. That's sargunster talking there.

Both the Colosseum of the past and the Hunger Games of the (supposed) future stem from the fact that life is simply a competition to see who can live the longest.

Re: Fix your shit, YouTube.
I think it's more Youtube's reaction that's the real issue, how Youtube is just flat-out denying that the problem even exists. If they had owned up to it, I really wouldn't care about this at all.

Some of these Youtubers are doing this (semi-)professionally. The amount of subs directly correlates to exposure, so this is vital to them. Sure, it's sometimes about e-peen, but for the professional ones, it actually means less bread on the table.
That said, I'm subscribed to about 20 different people, it'd suck to lose one of em, because I wouldn't immediately realize it and that channel would ultimately lose me as a viewer because of it.

Re: Fix your shit, YouTube.
At one point in time, the only way to have your video length limit raised was to exceed a certain number of subscribers. I can think of one popular Let's Play channel in particular with a 3 and a half hour limit from that point in time. Perhaps the angry people are still of the mindset that this is the case?
