So i just wanna throw this out there. Every day me, Panda and her old man go to work, we do house restoration. our work day starts at 8, we show up at 8 15, then go to lowes to get parts we 'just realized' we need, 845 finish lowes shopping go to dennies for breakfast. 1000 Get back and work slow for 4 hours. 200 finish everything in an hour and a half. leave 30 min early at 330. you've now payer us roughly 140$ per person a day. Moral of the story, pay by completion, not by the hours, when hiring carpenters. =]

Careful, there's another moral that lots of people have had to learn the hard way. And that's "don't write down your bad practices in a public place".

Man, I remember those days. I worked construction, and I can't tell you how many mornings I spent at HD or Lowe's. Then, Sonic for breakfast. Post-breakfast break. An hour of work, then lunch. Early day at 4-ish.

I know what you mean man, but the fact is if we worked steady, we'de finish to quick... were MUCH faster than other carpenters.... we take as long as they do on purpose. However we prefer to be payed by completion, then were in and out like lightning!

I have a friend who does his own home improvement business and he charges by job up front based on what he estimates the time to be. So the faster he finishes the more he makes because he can take on more work.

I used to work pro-desk at Home Depot. There were some contractors that were there all fricken day. There was one customer who was there so often he had a dedicated associate.

I think in my day to day life (because I use that expression a *lot* in speech as well), complaints about that have actually become a "deal breaker" for me. It tends to instantly apply a "way too uptight for me" label to someone, and there are actually a number of my mannerisms which I think I have evolved because they help me get an early read on people that I don't really want to associate with.

To me it's actually an expression of gender neutrality. I make a point to talk to and generally interact with people the same way regardless of whether they're male or female (unless there's a romantic context going on obviously), and given there is no real equivalent gender-neutral or gender-specific expression in the English language, I am not keen on modifying the whole way I phrase things depending on who I am talking to.

As I've said before, I once had a girlfriend crack up into hysterical laughter on me because I referred to her as both "man" and "dude" in the same sentence (she was habituated to both, but having both come at her at once was an exception case). Obviously, I was keenly aware of her gender, but it amounted to nothing more than a good laugh for both of us.

I tend to throw people off with that kind of thing too.
I always refer to my best friend as my 'Bro'
Every once in a while someone gets confused when they find out my best friend is female.
