My guess is maybe something related to the system FC mentioned to Battosay in the suggestions forum about remotely resetting a BD's inventory.

No, that's a *system* not a block. That one will probably be comprised of 5+ blocks.

my guess is a sort of compactor block, where items go in to be compressed into their block form for mass storage! :D

I'm guessing someting related to minecarts (can't be the hopper cart b/c that's an entity).

My guess is that all this guessing isn't really a good use of this thread. Also, it may risk the wrath of our overlord.

After spending the past few (well, more like 4 or 5) hours working on this new block, I have the following entirely useless, but very cool in its implications, build going in my world...

I think that should give you guys *some* idea of what it is I'm working on ;)

I'm confident in flowerchild's skills, and I have so many BTW-related projects in my world that..well, whatever it is, I'll be happy! At the moment I'm still enjoying playing around with mouldings.

Is this the archimedes screw that was mentioned before? AWESOME!

I wonder if HCB is on.
case (yes): vertical water pump of some kind is a distinct possibility
case (no): we can already do this with pistons and a RS clock, but the above is not excluded, as any redstone in the pic is well hidden...

By the way, that build reminds me of one of M.C. Escher's paintings...

With a guy like FC, that resemblance is no quiescence.

For shame. You should have had it running it's own waterwheel :p

Nice to see HCB mode having a chance of being revitalised though. yay!

My mind... It's full of wonder... Vertical transport of some sort?

I really don't think it'll be item transport, if only because I think it would invalidate the pulley system. Since it's such a massive and fulfilling build to make I doubt he'd do that. Water going upward though for HCB would make a lot of sense.

I want to be amazed but I'm a,lso kind of scared to.
I didn'notice the Escher resemblence at first, but now that it's pointed out, I'm pretty sure that it's there.

That was an incredibly lucid statement man. Props :)

If pumps are back, I will never place another source block again.

The only thing I noticed for certain is those water flows aren't connecting with each other and there is mechanical power nearby. Although that may just be a front and the objects of interest is deeper in the picture.

EDIT: Despite that, if that truely is the focus of the picture, I see a gearbox, a space and then a mystery block (hidden beneath the ground) with a water block next to it and what appears to be a source block above it. The implications are there, but it just seems too obvious.

That does look like a pump of sorts. WOOHOO! :D

Oh, and Anarchitect: Complete agreement! HCB will de the default for me if this really is a pump. :)

I'm pretty sure that HCB would be on for FC's world :3

So, in that case...
Batten down the hatches! Man the pumps! :D

If that's what everyone is thinking it is, I'm going to turn HCB mode on.

I can only repeat the sentiment, this + hopper carts will change everything.

All right, coffee in hand, it's time to get to the hard part with the new block. With my work yesterday all the functionality is in place (it's working perfectly at present in its intended role), but we're left with a problem:

You see, the reason why I've been thinking about this block on and off for months, is not because of what it's doing now. What I have in the mod at present is what I've wanted the whole time for this block.

The problem is the potential exploits, and I think they'll start becoming obvious for anyone that ponders my screenshot for awhile. This thing, while very cool, has the potential for invalidating itself, and pretty much all of HCB, within a few minutes of players beginning to use it.

Yesterday, I finally became confident I could overcome those problems however, which is part of why I decided to put it in the mod. However, today the really challenging work begins with regards to this block, as preventing it being abused is actually far more complex than making it work to begin with.

So, that's what I'm working on today :)
