You can always change it somewhere down the road when you tackle animal breeding ;)
Nah, I generally limit myself to improving vanilla functionality where I feel it's needed rather than nerfing it, except in the *very* occasional optional mode like hardcore buckets.
I suspect most people would assume it's a bug if they install the mod and it "breaks" a vanilla feature.

So the growing of wool is apparently tied to the eating of the grass off of grassblocks (not tallgrass); then they instantly regain their (coloured) wool.
Eating interval is indetermined atm since the clip i saw was too short.

So now we will be in competition with sheep for the only source of starting wheat? I suppose that is one way to encourage early exploration...

As far as I'm aware, the sheep convert grass blocks to dirt (ala sheepuffs) as opposed to munching the tall grass off blocks. Even though I feel the latter would make more sense.
This is going to make sheep farming underground quite fun imo.

I can imagine a big 3d square of dirt blocks, that has pistons rotate it every 5 minutes. There are grass blocks around the corners, so that the top layer is always covered in grass, and sheep live on the middle of the top side. Their floor continuously moves and gives the "fresh" grass every 5 minutes.
I am SO doing that.

Grass really doesn't take that long to grow man.

Tbh, Minecraft is one of the few games where watching grass grow isn't all that bad. I know my first couple of tea+cig breaks making the start of the tutorial map involved a lot of it.

Well, you get the idea.
Will there be any way to shear the sheep automatically? I think a saw could help here, although it is possibly to inaccurate.
It would be pretty funny if you could unleash wolves on the sheep to "shear" them...
Especially if that would be the way to filter babies. Wolves only eat adults :)
Which reminds me: I am now gonna cover my pig farm with dung blocks.

No, using a Saw for shearing would muddy its purpose substantially.
I may eventually put some auto-sheering mechanism in, but I think it's still way too early in the tech tree. If you want to automate wool production, you'll just have to kill the sheep and take the loss that entails.

I just finished updating the OP and shifted around a few things in the other 3 top posts. From now on I'll compress all the older tweets in one spoiler since I can't continue with one month per post. That has the advantage that you can easier find things you are looking for.
Today I noticed two things while catching up I'd like to share/discuss with you guys:
1. Our forums have become damn large! I wasn't even gone for a week and already had over 200 unread topics waiting for me!
2. As should be well known by now Notch tweets a lot more than Jeb but not much about MC. Since Notch is no longer working on MC I'd like to stop following him now. I doubt it is worth my time. I plan on keeping an eye on the new programmer instead which will hopefully prove to be more informative. Any objections?

1. Yes it has become quite large! I spend all day catching up and staying on top of things here.
2. No objections fro me.

1.) I use to be able to catch up on what I missed while sleeping in 20 minutes before I left each morning. Now I can barely get have done. Let alone what I miss when I come back.
2.) I would object if you didn't.

Seeing your activity over the last weeks you seem to do quite well. ;)
I think I'll have to stop skimming every last post made here or else I'll need a time machine soon. Is there any way to permanently stop specific topics from showing up in the "unread-list"?

I don't know why I get that idea this late but from now on I'll have an eye on Mojang's blog as well.

Sorry for the triple post but it has gotten awfully quiet here and I have a question I'd like to ask those of you who look at other sources than I do.
As we all know (hopefully) the main reason why BTW hasn't gone SMP is that MC's SMP-code is a mess. At some point there was an announcement that this is going to be changed in the future.
Now my question: Does one of you know wether work on the official API will include those changes (if yes, source please) or if this has been postponed until the API is done (which will take months)?

FC may have spoiled you here with his update prowess, but the warning from Dante still applies.
