Instincts. Can you explain why, with all our advanced civilisation and knowledge, we still have a rush of adrenaline before, say, an exam? No matter whether it's actually useful to us, or whether it just always makes us panic and do something stupid? As I say. Dogs were bred from large downwards, and so have instincts you might expect from a large animal, whether they like it or not.

And as I say, yes a cat can hold their own in a fight. However, cats are quite often injured or killed by dogs twice their size if they fight them. That's why it's best to run, if possible.

And as for your last statement, well, I didn't realise they went that big! It only reinforces my own argument, though.

I think I would choose dogs simply over never having owned a cat. I am in general a big animal lover and get along well with cats too.
