It's nice, but I think the ropes around the hay are too thick. You should either switch to 32X32 (Which won't happen probably) or just make them more brown. Try that!

Also, when you place two side by side, the ropes on the two sides (the middle ones) could be closer to each other, but that would be hard to fix considering the fact it's 16X16.

And here's a pic which could help you in some way. Not sure how:

It looks good in fields, but as a building block it looks kinda silly.
Maybe make the texture have horizontal "end" faces without string? Could have a more grainy static look to signify the ends of the hay. Dunno how possible this is, I am not a modder :P
Use a lighter warmer color for the rope, maybe today I can make u what I mean

I'd say more your ropes 1 pixel closer to the edge.

Thanks for the help guys. Panda if you could do that I would be so happy (credit in the OP of course). This one is just tough for me to get right, but I'll keep messing around with it.

Ok i tried to may you 3, give you alittle variety, with consideration that it looks like 1 texture is used for the entire surface of the block, aka they mesh well together on all sides, so here ya go:

I also think the reason its was bugging you so much is because your textures have a clear direction of what way the hay is facing so it looks wierd when using only a single texture for a block.

Yeah I did use just one texture, I didn't want to fiddle with the facing code or multiple textures for such a simple block. But it's looking like that might be the only way to make it look appropriate. I'll try these out first, though. Thanks Panda! :)

Your best bet woylf be to use my one that has 2 ropes horizontal and ill make you a top-buttom with no ropes that matches my side texture. : )

I think I got it, it matches vanilla a little better, and I just made it like the log, like you said, top-bottom and sides textures, and it looks much better IMO (though I might tweak the top a bit)

Lamps that burn out, when they do you have to relight them?

Nah, they don't burn out. Remember I'm only adding aesthetics here, I don't want to force anyone to work too hard on anything. But they are light-able/extinguishable. :D

That's perfect! Exactly what I was imagining but on the horizontal plane, but I think this looks better anyway. Will make nice fences too!

Been away for a few weeks and just seen this, wow excellent work man!

It ticks all the boxes for me, and the future ideas you have sound great too! Especially looking forward to some sort of horror type stuff to give my crypt some love ;)

If I may put in a suggestion, statues? Gold, iron and stone, to give my medieval town squares more depth.

Thanks for the support guys! Been working on a few things, mostly fixes, for the next release. Here's the changelog so far:
Spoiler
Show
- Chair recipe now gives 4 chairs rather than 1, to match BTW table
- Pavement is now made in a stoked crucible.
- Fireflies now drop 1 exp orb when killed.
- Fixed issue with mead barrel and chair recipes accepting stone siding in place of wood siding
- Bees and fireflies should no longer trample crops
- Spawning blocks (currently only honeysuckle vine) logic improved (honeysuckle won't instantly spawn 3 bees when placed)
- Bee pathing tweaked a little
- Added alternate recipe for cake (substitute honey for sugar), for both vanilla and BTW recipes
- Added hay bale block
Left out the new content I'm working on of course. :)

As to the suggestion Chuffy, that's a definite *maybe* :P

Came back to Minecraft minutes ago and installed your addon. Seems like a great and well-thought mod in the making. Just saw my first firefly and got my first bottle of hemp oil, both of which will be useful in the future when I get the required tech level. I love it. In short, you have a new fan here. :)

Thanks man! Glad you like it :)

Just released 0.4! Adds a few things and fixes a few bugs. :D

Btw, if you guys could, please report any weird behavior from the bees. I've made a few changes to them and I'm not sure if those changes affected anything I didn't catch.

It looks somehow weird...

But cool Update!

Bugs: You can´t make the iron lanterns hanging down from a fence. You also can´t set them on Hay blocks, or tables.

edit: Was it planned that the BD can suck up fallen sakura leaves? You can place them again everywhere. :D
edit2: Just found out that you can farm them with shears

No that's how the torch renders, and the lantern is pretty much a copy of the torch. I may change this though, as I'm a little unsatisfied with it myself.
Elevatator wrote:Bugs: You can´t make the iron lanterns hanging down from a fence. You also can´t set them on Hay blocks, or tables.
An unfortunate side effect of using the torch code (well, as far as the hanging down from a fence). In this case, it's similar to the chandelier in that I don't want it rendering in 3D, as that would probably be a tedious process. But as stated above, I may change this.

Yes, that's intended. I didn't want to fiddle with placement code for that block. But I figured it'd be nice to be able to move them elsewhere if you wanted.

About to update to 0.4 and while I'm here, wanted to bring a few things to your attention:

- The candle (because it is based on the torch, which is one pixel taller) has a texture issue where the top of it only has one pixel. Perhaps make it one pixel taller?
- The mead barrel can also be made with stone siding.

Thank you for all the work you have put into this mod, I recently installed it into my main world and am loving it. Also WOO, GRAVESTONES!
