Wow. Given that enchanting now only goes up to level 30 and the enchantability of SFS tools, I'm guessing Silk Touch won't be too hard to obtain anyway, so again the rarity of Eyes of Ender isn't really an issue. Also wondering if SFS enchanting will be rebalanced for that matter, though I should probably check the MC wiki for new enchanting stats. The Ender Chest has been changed to have an inventory per player and not per world. Also, knocking down the chest will break it into 8 obsidian, unless you have Silk Touch

Re: Morvelaira's MC News Compilation
I have to say this is one of the cleanest snapshots I've seen from them yet - mainly because they are actually focused on fixing things for once instead of adding new features. First snapshot release where there haven't been new notable bugs off the bat. I'm relatively confident that will change as the day goes on and folks discover things, but we'll see.

Re: Morvelaira's MC News Compilation
Kind of disappointed about the new snapshot. They changed the ender chest from being an interesting new mechanic where anyone could access the same inventory, to just being a backpack. Not that I'm sad about the new inventory space. I just thought that the ender chest would make for some interesting SMP experiences.
Also, a little interested in the /publish feature. What do you guys think?

The /publish can be interesting if it works, as it is now it mostly seems to be a bareboned feature that's included for testing purposes. I can see it being great for e.g. LPs where the LPer can have special guests and what not (or just do a co-op LP without having to have a dedicated SMP server).

It really seems to be a "look what we are doing" type feature at the minute. When they get it tuned up, then it will be a fantastic addition IMO.Urian wrote:The /publish can be interesting if it works, as it is now it mostly seems to be a bareboned feature that's included for testing purposes. Re: Morvelaira's MC News Compilation
I like the idea behind the ability to effectively invite someone to your world - it's a better method to share your builds with a friend than screenshots, videos, or sending the save over, since you can simply travel to the natural spawn, invite someone over, and take them on a tour of what you wanted to show off.
That being said, I'd rather just set up a server (either a VM or a spare computer) and play off that; there's a couple Linux distros out there that are customized for Minecraft. Any lag wouldn't be noticeable, and if you leave it running you can always get into it.

Yeah, personally I prefer to play on a server as that allows me to play with my world wherever I go - without having to fap about with world save uploads and keeping that up to date.
However, for a let's play world, I would LOVE to have the /publish feature, inviting a guest or even just someone to help out with things. In addition it is a great feature for those that want to do co-op maps with friends, but don't want to setup a server for it.

Wait. A new snapshot without a bashing Btw community? Mojang must have done something right.
And they did. The /publish feature seems pretty interesting.

Re: Morvelaira's MC News Compilation
Elevator, we aren't anti-Mojang. We just know that more power and easier ways to obtain "rare" materials doesn't equal a better game. A release that is fixing stuff and adding to the experience will obviously be met with praise.Elevatator wrote:Wait. A new snapshot without a bashing Btw community? He's got a point though, we've seen some pretty harsh (and not always well founded) comments on the topic ...Eriottosan wrote: Elevator, we aren't anti-Mojang.

True, it's been rather harsh recently, but that doesn't mean we're all camped out in the anti-Mojang brigade! :PM!C wrote:He's got a point though, we've seen some pretty harsh (and not always well founded) comments on the topic ...

Why were snow golems a good thing? They're one of the more pointless features.

by the way, from dinnerbone's twitter:
by which it means "can be placed on the underside of blocks"Hey, you guys know that levers can be placed upside down in the new snapshot; right? ;D
(not as I had thought "down as the off position so you don't need a redstone torch to make down an 'off' signal")

One interesting new feature that appears on the MC wiki's version-history, but not in the official change-log:
You can now place Levers upside-down on blocks

I see more phallic structures in the future. Mojang must agree because obviously that is the intended use of this feature.FlowerChild wrote:One interesting new feature that appears on the MC wiki's version-history, but not in the official change-log:

Re: Morvelaira's MC News Compilation
I noticed Jeb's tweet regarding the upcoming patch for MC XBOX, curious since now some of my xbox wielding friends are trying the game, i was reading the changelog until i noticed;
To my knowledge (i have never done something as silly as trap my own spawn...) this is fair game on the pc?

Handholding in extremis?* Added a warning message when attempting to place lava near the spawn area.

Re: Morvelaira's MC News Compilation
It makes sense though. If you do the same thing on the PC, you can just use MCedit to fix it. You can't do the same for Xbox.Flesh_Engine wrote:I noticed Jeb's tweet regarding the upcoming patch for MC XBOX, curious since now some of my xbox wielding friends are trying the game, i was reading the changelog until i noticed;Handholding in extremis?* Added a warning message when attempting to place lava near the spawn area.
