So they finally fixed the hitbox on stairs, almost two years after they were added.

While I still don't agree with their "fix" for experience, it will be much easier to reach max level - according to the wiki's changelog, it takes 825 experience to reach level 30 in the 12w23 snapshots. Given that most mobs give 5 experience (everything but blazes, slimes, and magma cubes), that's 165 mobs if you want a level 30 enchant.

I've got the OP updated with Patch notes taken from MinecraftWiki. I'll update throughout the day as normal, but since we're already on the b release, this may be interesting. :)

And some redstone issues. What other silly bugs should I visit next?
I think thats important and belongs to the new snapshot.

All in all the best snapshot so far. Fixing bugs is more important than adding new features.

... So, levels are slightly exponential again.

...I take back what I said before. Nothing good has come from the changes to the XP system in this update.

Anyone have any idea about this one:
slabs are placeable on walls
Are we talking that they now function like siding, or what?

Well, there aren't many possibilities...

Either slabs are now sidings, or a bug which stopped you from placing them on walls was removed. Probably the former.

Yeah, that was my initial thought too, but it's listed under "new features" in the MC wiki change-log, so it doesn't just sound like a bug fix.

Obviously a big deal for me since so much of the tech-tree is dependent upon sidings.

But sidings let light through, and slabs not.
This can look weird, but won´t create crazy light bugs

Oh phew...just found this post on MCF:
Just should be clear. Half blocks on wall isn't vertical half blocks. It's just that the block is placed in the top half or the bottom half depending on where you click on the wall.

Well, I wouldn't be pissed at Mojang for introducing Siding into vMC. I'd just be dreading the amount of reworking it would necessitate with regards to the tech tree.

Wow, that slab issue a poorly worded patch note. Seems like someone was trolling a bit since those patch notes aren't complied by mojang.

Looks like a decent snapshot this week, lots of bug fixes which is very nice.

True... But I think everyone here would prefer you working on fun interesting features vs boring thankless rework!

Sigh. Amazing how people can be blinded by the 'lets add more fluffy' instead of focusing on bugs. I've notice an interesting bug/glitch with biome/chunk generation.

Also seeing animals slide sideways numerous blocks in a single player game just makes me hate this ssp as smp stuff. Also no word on the API/4096 ID stuff, I got a gut feeling it's not going to happen for quite some time.

Things I'm most excited about:
Players can now see what blocks other people are mining
Players can see other player enchanted items glowing in SMP
Fixed stair hitbox

It's pointless getting upset about that kind of thing man. They're in the process of refactoring the entire game, these are only test releases in the midst of that process, and things are slowly improving with each pre-release on that front.

A job like this doesn't happen overnight, and there are bound to be issues like this along the way. If you can't stand these kinds of bugs: don't play pre-releases.

Official releases for me :D
I'm Really glad they are doing this though, it will be a lot more convinent when minecraft has a single code base.

Oh I know it's not an overnight thing. I know I used 'hate' and that was before my morning coffee. I just get curious and play the snapshots for a couple of hours to see what has changed. I've said before it's going to be interesting to see what happens. Honestly I would have stopped playing MC a while ago if it wasn't for BTW/BTB.

The thing that scares me is, seeing how they "fixed" the boats, I'm worried about the mobs behavior. Will they manage to make it as "smooth" as in SSP ? :/

I think it might of been stated already, but I don't think that your siding will be facing much competition with the new slabs FC. Even as it is with slabs being able to be placed on the roof siding is still more useful because slabs are designed from an aesthetic stand point verses the siding's functional standpoint. Honestly I don't think there's really any aspect of BTW that MC could try and mimic that BTW wouldn't do better without even trying.

That said, I'm more concerned about the new dungeons and villager mechanics taking away what little challenge there was left in the vanilla game play.

@Battosay

What do you mean by fixed, are you talking about how lily pads are dealt with or what?

=> it says on the reddit thread, what does this actually mean? Anyone know?

From what I understood, there seems to have been a bug at first that meant you couldn't use your old worlds with the new snapshot. An update to it fixed the issue.
