So, at a time when I was the only person on the server, I did a little bit of testing on the spawn chunkloading mechanic. Apparently, in multiplayer, things seem to work the same as vanilla, where a player has to be in the overworld for spawn to be chunkloaded, which might be a bug. I would like to do some more testing on this, specifically whether or not having more then one person on and not in the overworld affects things, and it would be very helpful if there were a (temporary) command block set up to make a server text message on a redstone signal, attached to a one or two second redstone timer. This would allow me to confirm when spawn is loaded without uncertainty.

It can be anywhere that is farther then two chunks away from the edge of the spawn chunk radius, though it would be convenient if it were close to the spawn nether portal.

Well, after you gave me all that stuff, I left your establishment following the road to the south, through the swamp and was killed by a pair (maybe more) of angry dogs. I spawned within spawn original spawn walls then logged. Maybe your gifts are salvageable. There's no way I can make it out there in time.

EDIT: Come to think of it, I don't think that works anymore. SRY

No worries. It'll regenerate in time.

Also you are right. Stuff despawns after 20 minutes, no matter if you're there or not.

Not really related but here I go.

After my dismal dismal play on the server, I made a single player world and repeated the run around and explore the world like I was doing on the server. Well! My brain is fully attuned to a normal difficulty. My brain calculated attacking a zombie with the axe or not, run by the skele taking two hits or give it a wide berth based on terrain, run by the creeper letting it explode a few steps behind me or not; all work fine. A creeper exploding a few steps behind me in hard is NOT light damage. Spiders are super nasty as they tend to at least get one shot in, and the slimes! Oh man the slimes now!

I'm starting to feel a sense of determination growing in the face of a challenge if you'll still have me past my visiting hours, but I also want to advance in my single player world, determinedly named "TheLastOne".

Either way, thank you for the visiting pass and it was nice to see and meet you all. Good group.

I would like to join in on this!

IGN: Finalcord

I've been playing BTW since the earlier 4.x versions, so I have experience!
I've also done a fair amount of building as well, and know how to make houses that are more than just rectangles.
In addition, I'm not a 12-year-old boy, so I can probably join the Teamspeak channel as well

Have just whitelisted you if your still interested, welcome! :)

Also I've heard that alot of you have still been having performance issues on the new server, if you could send me over some more info and possibly a Traceroute then I can get that sent off to the server guys.

Don't know about other people but I'm still getting lag on the server from time to time and Fragnet don't seem very interested in helping and renewal time is due very very soon so lets try someone else right?

If you could ping this server: 'mc01.serverminer.com' - and lemme know what ping you get that would be great. Its a server hosted in France rather than the UK but I did get a very good response from it!

Or if anybody has any other suggestions then feel free to say! :)

122ms seems like a very bad connection. I get about 24ms to that same server. Not that I'm a player here, but I felt curious ;)

I pinged this one: mc01.serverminer.com
With a fiber connection, and I live right on the border with France

But yeah, fiber is sweet. Just sucks that I have a monthly limit of 100GB bandwidth. Top speed is capped at 30Mbps, but that's plenty I find.

For the few that have it... what's the ping to my test server?

EDIT: Of course that won't work, ping has been disabled on the network. Good thing I'm not the network/system admin.

Is there a way to copypaste the results from the cmd window?

I pinged the french server and got a <20ms response.

edit: I'm located in germany.

So it seems its good for us Europeans but the States its about the same if not a little worse.
I mean do we wanna give ServerMiner a try, stay with Fragnet or what? You never know, ServerMiner could have a better stability than Fragnet.

I'll keep looking for hosts in the freetime I have!

People over the puddle (me, Fur, Walk) won't ever get under a 150ms, it's just not possible with the current Atlantic infrastructure.

When I hosted in the US and had EU people playing they could never get under a 150ms ping either. Anything under 300ms for overseas play has been the best I've seen.
I don't know if this will help you guys at all in your tests / decisions.

Once again I've switched server hosts as Fragnet was giving us plenty of problems with no sort of solution.
We're on another host now called CreeperHost and again its hosted in the UK! I've checked with a few of you and I've had back all good reports.

So here is the new IP: QuackerZ.playat.ch

By the way whilst I was testing the new server I took some pictures. Recognize these? :P
