Not sure if my request to be whitelisted was looked over, or if Edolas is just at capacity at the moment, so I'll post here one more time.

I'll go through the previous requests today, and sort the whitelisting out. Edolas is back online, nether fixed.
In regards to the price, £98 per 3 months.

Is there anyway to auto backup the nether with the overworld? I mean, I'm not a big fun of the nether in the first place, if this thing happens again, and I think it has happened a couple of times before, I don't think I'll bother at all building stuff there anymore...

Technically speaking, it should be in the backup without any issues (now anyway, using vanilla server setup). With Bukkit, you have seperate world folders, and "multiplay" only does a backup of the World.

I don't quite know why the nether got messed up with the recent incident, it should be in the backup. I'll likely mess around with it this weekend. After restoring it, I did a manual backup through the "multiplay" service. I'll download that backup and see what is actually in it etc.

Whitelisting time!

So I went through the last few pages with requests and PM's with requests. And listed them all down and whilst doing so checked their status on the forums. So for the sake of being straight forward and transparancy; those with a good history on the forums have been whitelisted. The others have not (yet) been whitelisted. The list below is in order of request, and listed visibly as a reminder for myself as well, for future whitelisting sessions. Those that directly PM'd me are at the bottom, as that is just an annoying way to get attention :P

Bold = Forum Username

Ooh! More vi... er, friends to integrate!

A few of whom I was hoping to see in the game from the time I saw their request.

I like the new idea of looking into posting history and such before whitelisting. I know it won't be perfect, but I think it decreases the odds of getting problems. I know many of us have put a lot of time and thought into our places, and we worry about them. I like seeing new people joining, don't get me wrong, but we have had a few problems.

Also, apologies, but with BTW here I have found myself far too busy to work further on the arena currently. I do have vague plans for it, but they are going to have to be later as I have much less vague plans for my own place. It is still technically usable, but there are some places mobs can spawn in it now, so please beware.

Woot, first milestone hit for Skycity. I finished the mats and pre-build of the elevator (minus controls).

So here is the before image, showing the circular pathway that was going to host the railway going up and down. That was a painful process to build. :P

And it's all gone now. =) I only died.. 12? times? :D

Hey whats that at the bottom? W00T, platform/anchors in place for the elevator ring!
Spoiler

And the main mechanics of the elevator are done as well (yes, there is a flaw in that :P). Build like this to provide mechanical power at the centre, and distributes it evenly to all pulleys at the same amount of ticks.

Bollocks, not enough rope. :(

And working! Only have a lever at the top now to turn it on and off (windmill at the top), but that will be sorted soon. I will likely change the whole design though, not a big fan of the way it looks now. But yeah, the pulleys needed to be powered from the side ^_^. Thats 8 pulleys, each with 135 rope in it.

Taking it down (and up I guess as well, but controls not in place yet :P) takes roughly 2 minutes and 15 seconds. =D

amazing! I am impressed to say the least. So when are you going to put pumps in to get water up there?

Maybe FC will like it better once he can ride up in an elevator instead of having to walk up...

When, oef. That will likely be a while still. :P Need a lot of mats ^_^. Actually have most of it. Just need a few more grates and well, iron. I think I can get quite far with iron though. Hmmm. Interesting!

First though: shave, shower and beer. It's sunny and warm, and that is something I do not take lightly here in Ireland. To the beer garden!

I'm grinding way too much netherrack...

I find that, after a while, the screams don't disturb Steve any more... And, some time later, he actually finds himself.... wanting... needing to hear them... and then he grinds the netherrack and throws it away. He has plenty already, so he does it for the sole purpose of listening to the screams for hours...

Nope, not "normal". Facefoiled doesn't seem to be working on it either, so it's multiplay having issues again ...

We will be taking the following machines offline for kernel upgrades this morning (2012-09-14):

blade32 blade33 blade34 blade38 blade39 blade40 blade41 blade42 blade44 blade46 blade47 mumble1-uk mumble2-uk

During the time these machines are offline, services will be temporarily unavailable but each machine should take no more than 1.5 hour

Edolas is on blade40. This wasn't noted doen until today

How very nice of them to inform you this far ahead of time ...

Just because it's a game server doesn't mean you can treat your customers like that ... any real business would be looking for alternatives now.

I was on when it went down, nearly 5 hours ago now, and all it said was:
"The server is restarting, you will be kicked."
No real warning either, I was immediately kicked.

Sorry, yeah a complete reinstall, unpatched works, but having it patched no longer works. Before hand with it patched it was letting me on, but giving me a warning message that btw was not installed, that it was needed for the server. Figured it was something with the patch.

Try doing a proper patched install by installing ML and BTW using the patcher.
