New Release! (BTW V3.94)
Version 3.94 of Better Than Wolves is ready for download!
Download Link
This release contains the following changes:
-Added Hardcore Sheep.
-Added ability to place Bloodwood logs sideways, and for the trees to grow with sideways facing branches. Note that this may halt the growth of current Bloodwood trees already placed in the world (it won't affect new ones though).
-Changed vanilla item code to resolve a problem where the visual state of items was not being communicated properly. This was making things look weird when item stacks combined, as the individual stacks weren't indicating the multiple items within them, making it look like items were disappearing instead of combining.
-Fixed problem with items getting embedded in planters so that they couldn't be picked up.
-Fixed problem with the Companion Cube not rotating properly on Turntables.
-Fixed problem with Stewing Pot and Crucible contents not displaying properly after chunk-load.
-Fixed problem with grass growing on dirt blocks underneath dirt slabs.
-Fixed problem with animals appearing to drop two Breeding Harnesses on death, when they're really only dropping 1.
-Fixed potential problem with sheep getting stuck in the eating animation if you put a breeding harness on them while they were eating grass.
-Fixed problem with being able to fill a single slot of the brewing stand with multiple potions by shift-clicking on a stack of them. Now you can fill multiple slots with a single shift-click instead ;)
Enjoy! :)

Thank you for all the updates. :)
<DaveYanakov> I know I overuse them and put them in inappropriate places but they just feel so good.

Jesus christ, you are a goddamn Update BEAST.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

Hardcore sheep? Interesting. And disturbing.
I also noticed how it's automatically on, and the config file can turn it off.

Tested and confirmed: I know what hardcore sheep is.

Hardcore sheep mode means that dyed sheep don't retain their color when sheared. They revert to white. This was tested with white sheep and yellow dye in both hardcore and softcore sheep modes. I don't know what happens when you dye a black sheep, or if you dye a sheep black.
Honestly, I'm probably going to keep my sheep softcore, because the my personal minecraft lore has Lemarkian inheritance.

Not even close man. You've barely scratched the surface.TheAnarchitect wrote:Tested and confirmed: I know what hardcore sheep is.
EDIT: I think you also just inspired me to remove the option to disable it with your quick dismissal of the feature. I was debating it pre-release, and I think that just settled it.

Anyway, thanks for all the quick updates. I was hoping you might change bloodwood to utilize the new system. And I will be enjoying the fix for item grouping.

Re: New Release! (BTW V3.94)
Hardcore sheep... sounds kinky :D
Anyway, just wanted to chime in and say thanks to you Flowerchild, both for making this mod and updating it like a madman.
I have been playing better than wolves for nearly a year now, constantly thinking that the mod can't get any better, yet every time you update you amaze me again. Now that I think about it, I haven't played vanilla minecraft since I started using this mod, it just feels so empty...
So thank you for spending so much time on the mods development and for making minecraft fun again ;)

Re: New Release! (BTW V3.94)
Thank you Flower Child for the awesome mod and updates.
I didn't start playing your mod till a few days ago and I'm very impressed and having a lot of fun.
I did encounter two issues with my play through.
1, Wolves didn't produce dung if close to a fire pit. I had a den area right next to my stewing pot area. I don't know if the dung some how spawns in the fire pit or what... but it wasn't until I moved my stewing pot area that they started to produce dung. I'd say the wolves were within 4-7 blocks from the fire pit. |www|fff|
2, Mill Stone was ejecting items behind a 1-thick wall. *I had my Mill Stones up against a wall and for the longest time I thought that milling stuff was not a 100% return (Wasn't till I had some soul forged steal that I decided to change my mill stones to include a hopper). If I could make a suggestion, have items eject from the mill stone in one direction from a side that you can select/turn like a gear box.

Suggestions goes into suggestion subforum, things that you think are not working correctly goes into tech support or bug report ones (note: you should go through tech support before posting in bug reports to make sure it's a bug and not problem on your end). And before suggesting things do some searching on suggestion subforum, the millstone ejecting item in all direction is intended (it makes you learn water channeling basics and regular millstone actually work this way) and all suggestion how to changed it was dismissed.Pharro wrote:snip

O.o You mean there's more to hardcore sheep?
But what exactly will this do to my automatic sheep shearing farm? (albeit I have to rebuilt it due to world corrupting technicalities, but that is a small issue easily worked around)

There is a little more to hardcore sheep that I've seen.... but I'd hate to ruin the fun. So I'm not telling any of you. Ever. I'll deny everything too.
Thanks FC for another update! Appreciate ya man!
