Sand factory

Post by Battosay »

I had the idea in mind since you changed the Mining charge, but only got to finish it lately, because I wanted to build it in my Let's play.

The cool trick is to quickly refill the little hole in the middle after the blast, to update the water and collect the gravel, which allows to destroy the full 3x3 cube of cobble :)

And I'm such a kid when I watch it work, I could do that for hours, so I just wanted to brag about it here too :p

That is really freaking cool man. I do have one question though, I notice you have pistons that push the cobble around and eventually bring it up into the collumn to be destroyed... Are they fed by a cobble generator? Cause if so, you are the master of limitless awesome (and sand, apparently)

Yes, cobble gen are used. If you watch it on your phone, make sure you can read the annotations, they explain a lot :)

And yes Panda, you can touch me it ;)

That is awesome! Quite a bit simpler than the one I had in mind... Clearly I have a lot to learn... :P

Since Lava creates smooth stone when touching water, and water creates cobblestone when touching lava, how do you set up a cobble generator? I think they are harder to build than a smooth generator.

once again battosay, you make the solutions to the problems I have seem so simple and elegant :P
mine's a hideous mess of pistons, BD's and redstone, that needs to be filled manually and orients the cobble through so many buttons and levers that I've had to write specific instructions on how to get the damn thing working :P (although the second problem is mainly due to my complete incompetence at redstone)

it depends on how they touch, I think it becomes cobblestone if the lava and water collide on the sides, and smooth if the lava falls on top of the water

Very cool. I would love it (even more) if you posted a tutorial video on this.

It was added very recently (in 3.70 IIRC).

And great sand maker, it makes my clunky BD monstrosity look even worse :D.

It is modular ;)
There's 2 next to each other, and it's easy to reproduce :)

I wish people who used mods like these could get more credit and be more rewarded for being amazing with redstone. You and Etho are pretty close, but he does have more subs and everything for his vanilla things. I think you are as good as him at it, and you should get more subs than you have now.

I wish I was as good with redstone as you, but I think that with your help here, a similar contraption would be easily set up.

Continue the great work :)

I've seen tons of people trying to make a perfect setup for this.

I was wondering, wouldn't it be easier to use a BD as a counter so that the mid piston that pushes up the cobble only pushes it the 2 first times? This way you would have the perfect form, you wouldn't need to correct any missing cobble. Do you get what im trying to say? I may not be clear.

Am I missing something or just you use this idea but I didn't realised?

Nice Video! I especially like the timing of the music with the explosion of the cobblestone at 2:00.

Awesome build man! Very nicely done :)

I waited until today to watch the vid, as I figured cobble-blasting might be a little intense given my hangover ;)

I'll go pimp this over on MCF, since you're yet again being a shy little flower about doing so :)
