Translations for BTW

[Crismon]

The main objective of those translations is to bring more players to this mod and make it easier for people who live in countries that doesn't have English as it main language to understand what each block can do, and what it is supposed to be.

To use every translation, Language mod is needed. Simply install the mod, run it once, download a translation file and move it to %appdata%/.minecraft/mods/LanguageAPI (on Windows). Then you can simply choose the language you want in-game and see the Better Than Wolves' blocks translated.

Ok, I've seen that we have people in this forum that wants to help translate this mod to other languages... I've been on the Mod section of Minecraft Forum and found this: Language mod

At first, I thought it would not work with BTW, but I tried anyway. Looks like that it is possible to translate almost everything...



...even for the aesthetic blocks.



I haven't found any problems with it yet. Looks like it lists every block that uses ModLoader in some way, wich happens to every block of this mod.

It's really easy to find them, since every block or item starts with "fc" (for example, tile.fcAestheticOpaque.rope.name, "tile" means that it is a block). And it looks like that every block is listed (even the "NOT A BLOCK"/"lens" block).
I can start making a Portuguese (Brazil) translation today if there is nothing against it (like the terms of use applied to BTW or something)...
If more people plan to make a translation, I'll list it on this topic (in a spoiler, with a link to download it, for easy access).

Sorry for the long post.

Oh, and it will work as long as BTW uses ModLoader or until it edits abn.class.

That's a nice solution, but if there were mistakes, how would they be corrected or would we just have to leave them?
On a side note, what TP is that?

Since every translation is easily editable, you could look (in the "code" or in-game) and report the mistake to the original "creator". It will depend on the community... This topic can be used to report this kind of problem, and even suggest a better translation.

The TP is, mostly, Wolfhound. I have a few custom itens and I'm using the BTWTerrain from Battosay's pack as a placeholder...

There are a few differences, if I'm not mistaken. It is really easy to translate, just take a look at the mod's main page, there is a small tutorial. I recommend using Notepad++, all BTW blocks and items start with fc (for example "item.fcHellfireDust.name"), just edit what is after the "=". This is cool. I had already changed the name of the vanilla cauldron to "pot," and had been wanting to restore the BTW version to its former glory.

I might have a looksy at what else I can do.

Added the first spanish translation. Not sure if it is really es-AR, but it's already something. I'm sure there are errors (typos and a few wrong translations) and I'll need help to translate sidings, mouldings and corners, since I'm not sure which word would fit them better.

I'll also edit/add it the first post/title.
