Regarding Buddy block + Poop
Regarding Buddy block + Poop
Does the buddy block detect when a wolf relieves themselves or does it not work for entities?

Doesn't work for entities. Your best bet is detecting the poop with a DB

Re: Regarding Buddy block
Nice, saved me time: I was already into experiments of different ways to test the idea.
Glad i looked to see an update.

Re: Regarding Buddy block
hmm, I think what I'll do then is set it up so that the fecal matter drops down into the hopper, and then have a bd sitting just above the hopper

Re: Regarding Buddy block
Could you come up with a more discriptive thread title? Right now, it doesn't say anything except "buddy block".
Re: Regarding Buddy block
If you're using a hopper anyway, you could just fill all slots except one with clay balls, then the hopper will emit a redstone signal as soon as the first poop drops into it.
Definitely more reliable than the DB version.

Re: Regarding Buddy block
hmm with that setup though I'd have to have a hopper for every wolf then. which seems kind of innefficient, I could probably also use snowballs instead :)Whisp wrote:If you're using a hopper anyway, you could just fill all slots except one with clay balls, then the hopper will emit a redstone signal as soon as the first poop drops into it.

Basically I was thinking of having each wolf in their own room, and as poop drops from each room, it alerts which ever dispenser needs to feed the wolf again. So once the poop drops out of one room, it goes to the next room to be sent into a hopper.

I find that if you drop a piece of meat every ten minutes you get a pretty good output. I have 12 wolves, and more dung then I can use.

Re: Regarding Buddy block + Poop
So you'd rather waste lapis on a Detector Block than wood on a hopper?

You can do the pressure plate+fence trick for a cheap item detector too I think.

pressure plate and fence?Gilberreke wrote:You can do the pressure plate+fence trick for a cheap item detector too I think.
Also I'd rather use lapis which is easy as heck to find, than spend the time trying to setup axles and gearboxes everywhere. I currently have a double chest full of only lapis.
