I'll repost here the message posted on the BTW Discord by Dawn, for those who missed it:

It is with a heavy heart that I share this news with you all. We were informed that FlowerChild, the original author of BTW from 2011-2020, passed away last year.

As the creator of this mod, and the founder of the community, we all owe so much to him. I personally got my start as a programmer thanks to BTW and FC, and have met several friends I never would have otherwise.

He was a retired veteran from the game industry who saw, like we all did, the incredible potential that this new little game called Minecraft had. He spent a decade refining his vision, applying everything he knew about game design, and teaching us along the way. He was a phenomenal game designer, and gave so much of his knowledge and humor back to the community.

Given FlowerChild's preference for privacy, we initially chose not to share this news widely. However, after much thought and discussion, we believe it is important for our community to know, and to honor his memory together. Out of respect for his wishes, we will not be sharing any personal details.

Let us remember FlowerChild for the inspiration he was and the community he built. His spirit will forever be a part of our shared journey.
