I need help and advice

I'm new to this entire mod and need some help and advice. I have experience with vanilla Minecraft but this is a much bigger challenge. I only last 2 - 3 days due to starvation and poor shelter. I have watched videos about it but they aren't much help. Please leave me with some advice and or tips.

You can start by punching some animals with your fists, a few porkchops is ideal. Then get yourself a secure hole or fortification. Walls have to be at least 1.5 high with no openings! Otherwise something gonna kill you.

Once you have a nice secure place to live, harvest fuel until dark. Get at least 10 sticks, the more the better. Cook two food during the night (porkchops ideal!) and you are set. Get an axe the next morning, harvest a few logs and kill more animals, and you are golden.

Don't be afraid to leave your starting area after a bit. Animals will thin out quickly there, so start to figure out your next step BEFORE the food runs out! That way, you have a game plan. Night time is a good time for planning. GOOD LUCK!
