Maybe there is a very rare chance of getting golden shit from wolves regardless of what food they are fed. Does anybody have an excessively large dung farm to test if it is a rare drop?

I wouldn't want a dog that lays gold-plated poos. When I smelt down the poo in the crucible, I only get the gold nuggets back. But I don't need the gold; I need the poo.

hmm, if it melts down in a crucible... perhaps you can get your wolves to produce golden dung as a new type of gold farm if you feed them the right food? XP

Well they do say "hounds guard the gates of hell".

First we'll have to find who "they" are then ask them what exactly they mean by gates.

I'm a bit confused as to why there are so many people speculating how you acquire golden dung when it has a crafting recipe. The more important question (and the actual topic of this thread) is what it's used for.

I plan to test it on Pigmen this evening (unless someone beats me to it)

well the main reason people are now trying to figure out if it can be aquired is because FC said a hint was that it could be melted down in teh crucible. as melting down a golden turd you created would simply have no purpose and leave you with minus 1 turd.

so for that funcionality to be a useful purpose for it, one would assume there must be another way of aquiring such fancy peices of poo.

however that being said and, the fact you can make a gold farm already through the nether, it seems unlikely that FC would add another method of farming gold. so yes maybe we should be concentrating more on what we could possibly use it for. im still leaning toward no actual use other then the lol factor however.

but heres hopeing im wrong :)

Well, one thing you can do with the stuff you guys have already discovered, is that if you carry your gold turd with you all the way from your starter chest to the point where you have a functioning Crucible, you get a nice little reward of 8 gold nuggets for your trouble.

Oh is that just it? I'm going to test if starter chests always give you a golden turd. I remember Dave making a starting chest suggestion and that might just be FC's way of implementing it :)

I disagree. Dung is normally (depending on diet of course), much softer than gold. So, in dung terms, this stuff is practically a tank.
