Ribky: eh, maybe kinda iffy at first, but you grew on me like a glorious tumor of innovation
Detritus: A whole lot of walls decided they wanted to give you a hug, but you're allergic to walls
The above is correct with regards to the wither: what I'm not keen on is auto-farming.
The arcane scroll drop on it is set to 100% drop rate, which means you should accumulate a fair number of the corresponding scroll while you're building beacons. That's really not about farming as much as it is about providing an additional reward for killing it.
Did I get extremely lucky, or is the drop rate of scrolls from bats really high? I killed four bats with my battle axe while caving, and the first three all dropped a scroll.
Anyway, it will be fun to think up a way to farm bats.

FC stated in IRC last night that the intended way to farm bats is yet to be put in, so they're currently at a 20% droprate to compensate.
..Not that this is too hard, those buggers are everywhere :P
I was hearing their squeaks so close, and searched everywhere, even in my wolf farm. Killed everyone, still hearing them. Turns out not one, not two, THREE of them were stuck in a 1x2x1 hole I accidentally left empty under my floor. Uuuugh.
Well, if you exclude peaceful mobs such as cows and sheep, there simply aren't enough mobs for each of the scrolls. Seeing as FC has said he liked the trading system before, I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

Well, I wouldn't say that :)
What I like is the potential behind villagers. NOT the current implementation. However, as I've stated, revisions to villager behavior are coming shortly.
