Re: Article on autism
It is funny how much autistic children tend to focus on Disney movies in particular; My aunt and uncle actually have 2 autistic kids who spend huge amounts of time watching Disney movies and rewinding to certain parts over and over again. They bought the older of the two a toy laptop (Basically just...

Re: Space engineer
It definitely looks interesting, but one thing that may not pan out well: Community feedback is expected and will direct our future decisions. It makes a bit of sense, but they will need to be very cautious and not throw design out the window. It's a bit sad that it's gotten to the point where so m...

I've got a coupon for 90% off Tiny Bang Story, if anyone wants it. That makes it ~50 cents, but it just doesn't look like an interesting game to me That game looks like something my daughter will enjoy. What do you want for the coupon? You can have it for free, just add me on steam, my signature sh...

Re: Akinator, "The Web Genius"
This genie is so awesome! It can even learn from its mistakes and get new characters in its database. I beat it with Minato Sahashi from Sekirei, but it learned who he is so no one can beat it again. I get how it gets new characters, but how does it get pictures, and such specific questions? IE, in...

Akinator, "The Web Genius"
http://en.akinator.com/ This is a neat little game. Basically, it's 20 questions, but it tends to narrow in on the right person in a startlingly short amount of time. It's pretty interesting. I think it uses the info other players give to it, and bases it's guesses on the popularity of certain peopl...

Re: Banished [Shining Rock Software]
As an aside: it seems to be a very odd trend amongst indie developers to discard tried and true design principles and then go on about them as if that's a feature. In this case the developer seems to laud "no tech tree! you can build anything anytime you want!" as a feature, when to me, t...

I'm sorry, yes to honest, the main purpose is advertising, I am developing Dwelvers and the reason I posted here was because there already were a topic about Dwelvers, and as we have recently released the new version I thought I could inform about it. Re: Limit Theory
I might have to keep an eye on this, I'm a huge sucker for procedurally-generated-anything. This made me almost shit myself. I've actually done a little work on procedural music composition, but nothing that I really stuck with. I just don't have the programming chops for that sort of thing. Outputt...

Re: Has anyone else tried Rust?
I had a bit of fun with this game. Spent a couple lives running around trying to figure shit out. On the third life, I finally got around to seriously gathering and hunting. I had a decent stockpile of food and a bow + arrows. Then, I was killed by a naked man named "PARTY!" with a rock, w...

Re: Player Heads as decoration!
I look at this and have to ask myself though how much overhead all that dynamic downloading of textures might cause if players really start pushing this to extremes (which of course they will if given the option). I'm not sure if it was such a smart move on Mojang's part to encourage this kind of t...

'Nuff said.
We've been using these extensively on a server I admin, and I thought some of you might be interested. Everything on this list seems stable, but it's only 2 months old, so I can't be certain they wont change. There is also an entire subreddit dedicated to these here!

I have been here for a long time now, had some serious fun with the old btw servers. My time has come to an end though. I finally talked my brother and nephew to try the game out and they loved the automation, hated the "hardcore" so a few months later my brother decides to make a forum a...

Heck, I had people flipping out on me when I even introduced any concept of a tech tree to tie the whole thing together a couple of years ago :) Heh, I had my reservations when you first introduced the mill stone/hand crank. I remember I stopped playing for a while, and I think it was shortly after...

Re: Starbound Beta release (4th december)
I haven't played it too much yet, but I did grab it the other day after getting a larger-than-expected paycheck. It definitely seems harder than Terraria, in a very good way. A lot of my friends have complained about having to use the Hunting Bow in order to get meat from mobs, but I think it's a gr...

Re: Starbound Beta release (4th december)
I'll likely end up grabbing this at some point, but I'm gonna wait until I can see a few LPs of it. It seems more like Terraria with planets and spaceships, but Terraria got old to me pretty quickly, I'm hoping that this is a bit more interesting
