Re: An Important Announcement

Valve? This is minecraft. We've been waiting on a mod api so long it's a running joke. It takes Mojang months to say that they're thinking about doing something meaningful.

Re: update to older version

Well, damn. MCNostalgia hasn't been updated to allow for backtracking to 1.2.3. So, ironically, in order to get to that version in order to make my mods work, I have to wait for a mod to update. Which just perpetuates the cycle. Grr.

update to older version

So finally got all the mods in order this morning to update minecraft to 1.2.3 and two hours ago they decide to drop 1.2.4. I don't particularly feel like waiting two more weeks for everything to update and end up playing minecraft 1.1 until the end of time due to mod lag, and the new map system mea...

I've read this, and I still don't understand how steel tools degenerated into silicon rendered from supermodels. Focus, people, focus.

Upgrade iron tools to steel

Specifically, flint and steel and shears. Make them last longer, and, in the case of shears, harvest wool (and possibly padding) blocks more quickly, being that shears are the most effective tool on those blocks, but still take an inordinate amount of time.

You can still get many pages by using Google's caching system, if anyone's frustrated with the blackouts. Wikipedia's a good example.

[BTB] Saws & lower mechanical devices powered by engines

Briefly this: all those machines that require mechanical power being able to be powered by the engines that contain their own source of power production: ie, steam engines and combustion engines. Seems like a natural progression to me, and would allow you to make your machinery more mobile in the la...

This entire conversation has been had elsewhere on this forum before. With the exact same logic. And near the exact same responses. As regards whether it is alright to bash modders, while providing goods for free is commendable, it's generally accepted that providing other people's goods for free is...

Re: "The Sniper Problem" (Game Design Discussion)

Snipers were pretty well done in Enemy Territory. You had to be perfectly still, moving would screw up your accuracy for several seconds, your cursor swayed a massive amount, and bullets had travel time. The map design was such that there weren't a lot of places you could go that wouldn't be vulnera...

I'm a bit iffy on calling the attempted demolition of a government building terrorism. I would consider it more a matter of efficiency.

The Age of Gimps? I see new leathers, but nothing else. There has to be some new functionality somewhere. I thought it might be the lens, but that's still not implemented.

The reason water runs like it does is because of meta data restrictions. Making it run farther would mean modifying base code.

I've always gotten that vibe whilst playing; i'm always the one who is out of place, i'm always the most destructive and i'm always by far and away the most lethal. I'm beginning to wonder whether the monsters aren't trying to kill me for the sake of it, but in fact are trying to stop me before it'...

Re: A way to raise water

Making it the default comes with a certain assumption that it is the way the mod is meant to be played. Therefore, I'd feel much more comfortable building features around that setting. At that point, there can't really be any complaints that I'm wasting resources on blocks that don't even apply to ...
