Re: Hopper Filters: what filters what?

Well, if you're going to look at changes... hehe. I had assumed, until it didn't work & I made a testing trough, that seeds would not go through rollers, but would go through wicker. It just makes a bit more sense to me, as (most) seeds are a wee bit larger than paper & fibers. There really ...

Hopper Filters: what filters what?

I've been trying to optimize an automated hemp farm (based on Urian's youtube tutorial design), to efficiently seperate out the seeds & hemp, mill the hemp into fibers, and store the resulting fibers. While doing this, I've been trying to figure out just what fits through each filter type, so I ...

Re: a horizontal sliding platform

I did have another thought - instead of inventing the wheel, use the wheels we already have! Platform + minecart = platform base (1x1x2 high), which you could add more platforms onto the sides, with the same anchor/platform size relationship. You can just lay out a rail how you like it, to move the ...

Power: infinite or finite supply?

Real power plants generate a limited amount of power (whether you consider electrical output, or simply friction & such from older types). Dwarf Fortress water wheels generate a set amount of power, and each length of axle & gears consume a set amount. Is there any limit to the power generat...

Re: Suggestion: Smoke Wheel?

You're basically talking about a turbine. It's not powered by smoke, so much as the rising of hot air. And I think a steam turbine would be more efficient than one powered by hot air. Steam turbines are what almost all of the modern day power plants use - the variety is in how you heat the water to ...

Re: a horizontal sliding platform

One thought that pops into my mind... Wheels. There is already a friction or drag type of design - look at the way loaded vs unloaded minecarts act, and the fact that you'll eventually stop, if you just ride downhill. So instead of iceblocks (which could still be an idea), you could build a large ca...

Re: Thoughts on stone-grinding

I don't think either suggested recipe is too expensive. I had only suggested 3 diamonds for either - and if you think about it, this is a permanent workstation. You need 3 diamonds for a diamond pick, which will eventually wear out. Actually, I could almost see making it a 1x2 workbench, combining b...

Thoughts on stone-grinding

While the saw allows the production cycle of log > plank > panel > moulding > corner > gears, the only current production for stonework is the smooth stone > panel, using the millstone. I've read that FC intends to change this at some point, as the millstone is intended only for organic matter. Ston...
