Re: [Nether Spoilers] Soul Sand Piles Help
Ghast fireballs that hit Pigmen seem to anger the Pigmen towards the player they were fired at now? This isn't necessarily reflected fireballs either, it also seems to affect them with direct hits. Wonder if this applies to Blaze fireballs? Wither projectiles? Skeleton arrows? That would explain so...

Re: [SPOILERS] Hardcore Sinkholes
I just hardcore spawned close to a desert and decided to walk through it to see what this feature was about.
I fell in lava. It was pretty obvious what happened and I had a good chuckle out of it.
Guess I'll be avoiding deserts from now on, that'll make things interesting.

Re: Your HCS Outpost Process?
I never really understood the "leave redstone behind" bit. I always construct arrows out of dirt slabs or whatever at my HCS bases indicating the direction to spawn so that I don't need to waste any redstone dust like that. Maybe just thinking that you need a compass to get back to spawn ...

Re: What's your door? - Base entrance thread
Downside is that cliffs are usually found in hilly areas, which is hard on poor Steve's feet. Truth. In my current world I settled in a small cliff and built a road to the swamp nearby, which is where I'm building everything. Witches haven't been a problem and I don't think there are any huts in th...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.89999999)
Quick question about this update - did it reduce the amount of seeds dropped by pumpkins? In the last version I seem to remember getting 4 seeds from every pumpkin, while this version I am only getting 1 or 2... my sample size is not very large though, so it might just be my bad luck. I'm playing t...

Re: Mob Traps
Spider drops are undervalued compared to other mobs. Zombies(iron equipment), Creepers(oysters for diamond ingots) and skeletons(bones, bows and arrows) are usually more preferred outputs. String and eyes are comparatively less useful, as string is not usually needed in large amounts(i've yet to se...

Re: Managing security at bases
I'm curious; how do you all handle the "front doors" of your walled-in settlements? There's no viable space inside my walls for mobs to spawn in (slabbed or lit up)...so I generally don't need to bother with my doors. They're all wooden. I meant getting in and out of your wall, not the do...

You can still claim that they focus on bugs though.FlowerChild wrote: Hehe...yeah. When the rate at which you add new bugs exceeds the rate at which you correct old ones, I do not think "focus" can be claimed :)

Re: Managing security at bases
Even for early hole-in-the-wall bases, there are tips and tricks that really reduce the tension of the first few nights. In particular, grates, crafted with 4 sticks, make fantastic early-game windows by letting in the moonlight without letting arrows or wolves in, which really helps before you hav...

Really looking forward to that stoked flame. I really liked it back in my first advanced BTW world back before the texture turned back.
Now to get to stoked flames in my new world; I've only got a simple pumpkin/hemp farm.
Thanks FlowerChild!

A skeleton and spider spawned in my mushroom farm :[ If I dig a 2x2 corridor around my farm and keep it completely dark, will mobs prioritize spawning in there over spawning with the mushroom room? Light up the mushroom farm, they'll still grow as long as the torches are I believe over 2 spaces awa...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.8942)
If you're going to start a new world anyways, I'd hold off until the next release following this one. There's one more change I've got left to make that should pretty dramatically affect the overall progression. After that, the only thing that should really affect the balance are my upcoming change...

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.8942)
I timed my decision to start a new world quite well. I already had SFS in my old one and was no where near the end, that on top of a ton of other little things I had that have since become harder to get make that world way too cheaty.

Re: Next Doctor announced!
I don't have much of a problem seeing him as the Doctor, which I think is a bit of a problem. He's another thin, tall, white man. I was hoping for something a bit more exciting than that. I'll be happy if he does a good job though; I'm not at all familiar with him. Kind of interesting that he's tied...

I remember when I read through this whole thing on the wiki several months ago; far easier way to see the history of the mod than to read the whole thread on the Minecraft wiki (I think I gave up less than a hundred pages in).

Re: Has anyone else fallen in love with diamond shovels?
I just tried a diamond shovel because I need to excavate an enormous amount of dirt so i can expand the river I settled on and get more water into my mob trap (I don't have enough iron right now to invest in screw pumps) and read this topic right before I started on that project. My god is it fast. ...

Re: Stuff that never felt right.
Abandoned mine shafts never seemed right to me. I get that there supposed to be dungeons (as in game play dungeons) but why the broken down, caved in theme? Why have supports? There are no cave ins, no gravity, in minecraft. That's kinda a staple of the minecraft world. Perhaps because the previous...
