they don't need to be synced. my approach was to have the gates most of the times closed so enderman drop on the hard surface. then when the above gates opens the lower one is closed. let one block gap between them. redstone is just some wire dust placed nothing really fancy. there are other methods...

a rotating turntable set to lowest speed with one redstone torch on it. one row activated and after half turn the other gate activated when the above gate is closed

@taleric why do you need vines? drop them from any high. Oh that is to skip a step, prior to a recent XP FC addition. If you set the endermen to 1 hit kill then vine the drops above that to match they are all synced for mass collection. Now it would prob be just as easy to rig a periodic flow for d...

more that 48 block and they drop dead. my way of getting the drops was to have 2 pistons gates that open and close. the enderman always got the hard surface to rest in peace but the drops eventually got into the water system down.
@taleric why do you need vines? drop them from any high.

best entrance that i now use on my desert base is a 3 blocks gap with slabs above and under so you have a 2 blocks way to enter and exit. mobs take that like full block. low resources, good looking.

my textures aren't to be used as they are. they were released so longlay can grab and move them to his release. about hemp just do it yourself! yeah sic 8 is the base conquest then you need to add longlay textures for btw and after if you want my fixes for cauldron and the rest. i'm working on a cleaned conquest version with lot's of textures removed that can't be used without commands. @longlay yeah i can clearly move debris to the cobble ...

it's brown, white, light grey and grey wool. and those last two look great and also makes a reference to the btw way of making wool blocks with blocks of wicker. edit: finished the ctm for black stone. pillars and pedestals and double slabs have their own texture: http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/...

working with the latest conquest release, i have stumbled upon lot's of textures that can't be used in btw outside creative. so far there are also some inconsistencies in vanilla with how a double slab block that looks equally as the full block (aesthetics). so i can add to those double slab blocks ...

a witch trap is good for their noses and maybe some potions. build your mob trap in the swamps and make sure to add a filtering system for the witch drops also.
again i don't really use potions but if you are using them frequently the swamp trap is good for you
