Re: Wolf spawns

They had better not! I've been them killing them off whenever I encounter them in virgin lands, under the expectation that there won't be any wolves left to terrorize the animals when I am (un-?)fortunate enough to die and spawn there. That said, I'm pretty sure they don't. I've spent a lot of time ...

Heh.

I will admit, I'm in the high and dry club myself, as well, though I usually build some sort of backboard - both to give me something to stand against, as well as to catch the rare fish that goes just a little bit too high and ends up soaring halfway to china.

Re: The beginning of iron tier

I have many, many bases in this world, and in every single one of them, I've gone pick first, because it really speeds things up. But in your case, a hoe might be better. What I do essentially is make a rush to iron. Basically, I spend the first few days gathering meat and wood, and the first few ni...

PS: Myr, watch the whole video. Its put together very well and it'll help you in making a decision on what type of trap you want to make. Did you? Did you reach this part? It appears that the 128 thing is also old information that keeps propagating around. At some point, the algorithm began to only...

Re: Multiple End Dimensions Mod

Last I remember, FC had additional plans for Strongholds, and the number of strongholds might have been a significant part of those plans. I'd err on the side of caution, and not mess with the number of Strongholds in a BTW world.

Re: So i just discovered...

When you take this kind of work and brand it to the "lowest common denominator" or "the less intelligent of the nations people" does it make you any better than them? No, in fact I would say it makes you worse, since you criticize those who you already established as inferior wi...

I guess it only makes sense for americans or people who have english as mother language :P Meh, not even. I can't say I'm familiar with that one at all. I would say an elephant trumpets. I associate "toot" with a train blowing its horn (although that still doesn't make sense when you hear...

Re: Double, double, toil and trouble (witches)

What I remember from my last encounter is that I effectively had it cornered, and I kept hitting it with a sword over and over and over again... and once it had occured to me that half of my durability had been wasted, I concluded that these things were not meant to be attacked! At that point, I had...

Re: So i just discovered...

Okay, well, I will say there is one thing that might (?) be lost in translation: At least in America, animal names and sounds are some of the earliest things taught to children, and so the phrases "what does the ___ say", or "the ___ says ___" are associated with childhood. When ...

I don't want to be crushed when I get to the "real world" where I have to put forth effort but I have a hard time putting forth effort now. I'm afraid. It's funny. What you describe sounds very much like what I felt years ago before I entered college. And it's how I continue to feel today...

Also, about the wolf incident: That happened in response to a specific, avoidable event. Probably best to play it safe until you figure out what that was, though. :) Honestly, though, I find wolves are not much of a help early game. I often just kill any wolves I see (so long as I know I can take th...

Re: how much does chainarmor(mail) weight?

I don't think you can count individual nuggets. The weight system is based on ingots/diamonds, and chainmail counts as about half an ingot.

Edit: Removed some of the specifics after consideration of recent metagamey topics.

Alright, I'm starting to catch up a little, and I really gotta say, I had a blast trying to gather science from the Gravioli detector without any RCS. Nothing better than launching giant metal rocks into the air and seeing where they land. Likewise, I felt really clever when I figured out how to mak...

Yes, I've had this happen to an area that I lit on fire, my guess is when chunks were unloaded.

It looked like a very large area was lit up, but it turned out there were only 10 or so bugged tiles. I managed to fix it through trial and error by placing blocks and watching the shadows change.

Re: A weird missing file on my computer (Ghost File?)

There's a couple of tools floating around, but here's what I do: 1. Get Ubuntu Desktop 12.04 LTS: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop These days most computers ought to be able to do 64 bit, but if you're unsure what you have, get 32 bit. Or install whatever version you installed for Windows ( fo...

2. Mount your hard drive either via the file manager, or terminal using "sudo mount /dev/sdXY /mnt" Just to point out, when using mount, the target directory (in this case /mnt) must exist, and must be empty. If it isn't (which it likely won't be if you use a USB), you can make a new dire...
