Re: [SPOILERS] 3.80 feature discovery thread
Consistent with the notion of Arcane Scrolls representing acquired knowledge, the Scrolls do not burn in stoked Crucibles, making them safe for however you sort your mob farm items. Good thing, too, because I probably would have let it burn just hoping for an easter egg. I haven't seen much discussi...

Re: A History of Names
This name is dumb. It comes from "experience" and "hit points" in video games. It was the first "original" name I came up with and stuck with after many, many accounts that were just permutations of the words "super" and "sonic" with a couple of numb...

Re: [SPOILERS] 3.80 feature discovery thread
Typically, the best arrangement for something requiring each tile of type A (Bookcases) to be adjacent to one tile of type B (Air) follows this repeating pattern: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/56169534/BookcaseArrangement.png Green indicates bookcases, white indicates air, black tiles on the edge are was...

Re: Exp's Final World (a sporadic Let's Play)
Want to watch somebody briefly dick around with things he doesn't understand and figure out nothing special in particular about them? Well, by golly, have you come to the right place or what?! Episode 2: The Secret of the Scrolls BbB7W4VP5iI Note: This video (partially?) spoils: The "new myster...

Exp's Final World (Let's Play) (now with 100% more HCS!)
Exp's Final World is my attempt to put an end to my terrible case of New World ADD, and build up a world with a big history and a lot of memories; something worth keeping. I call it a "sporadic Let's Play" because updates are irregular and infrequent. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoy what is ...

Re: BD Counter with 7 Segment Display
Oh my, I forgot to post about my update! Rev 1.1 Download Link I did away with the Lenses and just directly connected all the BDs with one wire. I thought it would look messy, but actually, it ended up looking a lot nicer, like two sets of alternating staircases. I'm referring specifically to the Br...

Re: Sonic Ether's Unbelievable Shaders
Tried to run it with BTW myself (using the standard prescribed fix for making Optifine work with BTW, and installing everything before adding the Shaders mod), and I got that bizarre error I have sometimes seen others get where BTW appears multiple times in the Mods Loaded list and it encounters a B...

Ah, you're right, the OP does not appear to have any mention of this.
Although interestingly, I've been aware of this behavior despite never taking advantage of it, which leads me to believe that at some point it was mentioned there... either that, or I learned it from the old demonstration videos.

Re: Is there a renewable source of clay?
But, assuming that BTB Intake Pipes will operate on Ender Chests (which would most likely require Mojang to decide not to have player-specific Ender Chests after all), then if you publish your SSP world and have another player stay in the Nether indefinitely to keep chunks loaded, there exists a the...

Re: Is there a renewable source of clay?
For what it's worth, the Kiln already can convert Wood into Charcoal. With a tree farm that allows trees to grow naturally, every step can be fully automated except for, as Itamarcu suggests, carrying Iron to the Nether or carrying soul dust to the Overworld. There is no place in which both of these...

Re: Dear architecture and creative geniuses out there. Help.
Welcome to the forums! I'm not exactly the master architect you're looking for, so I can't really answer your questions, but I know I had to make monumental efforts in my latest world in an attempt to overcome my own case of New World ADD. And it's not easy. But I'll try to help how I can. Reading y...

In countries that use the NTSC standard (United States, Japan, Canada, etc), 60Hz/120Hz are all that exists. I've never seen a native 50 Hz TV in my life.BigShinyToys wrote:side question Do they make HD TV's in 60Hz or only 50 100 200 ?

Re: Tales of Woe: how has a feature of BTW killed your steve
Aw, man, you all have such nice stories. I rarely ever die any more. For the most part, the only malice that my soul-infested world has wrought upon Steve is that he has, on numerous occasions, fallen into a Crucible. Even in my latest world, it has been 24 days and I've only died once. But I'll try...

Re: A superior browsing experience
For the longest time, I stuck with Firefox 3.x because I had made some UserChrome.js modifications (to hack the browser's appearance) and I didn't want to mess them up. Besides, some plugins I had were dropping support for FF4. Then Firefox started going update crazy and decided that it should have ...

The only conflict is xd.class (World). I don't know what modifications either mod makes to this class, but experiment and you may find a working setup. Another choice if you're going the mod route is Generator Ports . I use this in my world to have Beta 1.7.3 terrain generation (before Oceans existe...

Re: Non infinite fire duration
Your issue is not with BTW, but with vanilla behavior. Wood does not burn for very long. If it did, we might end up with the problem once again of biome-spanning forest fires. "It makes sense" is not alone a good reason for a suggestion. I see no reason to burn wood when you can just as fr...

Imagine a World that was played on as if it were being streamed live... even though Fraps isn't running, the player isn't talking, and there ain't nobody watching. There's no time to waste on pointlessly running back and forth and doing chores. You want to get something accomplished each day. You al...

Re: BD Counter with 7 Segment Display
Wow. This is quite impressive. This is something you can sanely build in a Survival World. I know I will; I want a day counter. I really like the idea of a day counter, but you'd need to constantly keep this entire contraption within loaded chunks for it to be accurate. I think you'd especially hav...

I can see that just about everyone here is capable of making things much more impressive than I, but searching the forums, it doesn't look like anyone has beaten me to the punch with my latest creation, so I might as well share. (of course, it appears that most of the discussion about segmented disp...

Re: In which i show off my crazy XP Farm (Mobtrap Item sorti
I could. However - i a, suck at timers. B - The actual output of bows/armor etc is sporadic enough that coming up with a working timer would almost certainly be more hassle than it's worth - as it is, the player can just drop past occasionally and do it manually. My almost-solution: http://i.imgur....
