Re: *Basic* instructions for converting add-ons to new syste

Just a note on something DNoved1 and I both ran into, decompilling with the latest MCP gets one naming thing wrong which needs to be changed. In EntityAnimal from the client, the methods 'setRevengeTarget' and 'OnNearbyAnimalAttacked' need 'this.breeding' to be changed to 'entityLivingToAttack'. Bot...

You may very well be on to something with the chunk boundary thing, this is a shot from my villager housing on the server soon after I'd logged on a while back, with the chunk boundary highlighted: http://i.imgur.com/cnLtHxo.png I'll add that I only started noticing this kind of thing on the server ...

Re: Blood wood tree experiences

I've never actually planted any myself, I've always been worried about ending up with something which would melt my computer. Although I have had an indirect experience with them on the official server. SterlingRed planted some and told people to avoid the Nether around his base. 30 minutes or so la...

Re: Vanilla Minecraft News Discussion

Honestly, I imagine Better Than Wolves UHC would be filled with starving to death, cannibalism, most people dying to mobs on the first night and those that survive being eaten by hungry wolves the next day.

Actually in saying that, I'd totally watch a video of that.

Oh thanks for telling me, I was just making sure I wasn't violating anything Yeah, there's actually been some debate in law recently about that stuff, and I believe youtube actually suggests you request permissions just like you did. With all the wonderful new ways to die, I thought it was time to bring back another of these old threads with a new death which I don't think I've ever legitimately had before in Minecraft. If you wish to skip the preamble and go straight to the bit about how I was killed, just jump down to the bold...

Re: Early game after respawn

Has anyone found a viable strategy to deal with suboptimal starting conditions in any other way than waiting it out? I think honestly, the best thing to do is to go make a cup of tea and think about what stupid thing you did that caused your death, then respawn as the sun is rising. If you can't co...

Re: Mob Trap: A triumph for Hardcore Buckets

Yeah, I've always played with all the default settings, so water source blocks have always felt like a precious resource to me and where you build is dictated in a large part by them. Of course, this doesn't mean you can't use the Minecraft water spreading mechanics to your advantage. When building ...

Ok, not trying to be rude, but... Massive builds? That's a pretty laughable statement with regards to my own structures . Wow, I really had the numbers wrong. Do I feel stupid now xD EDIT: Although now I think of it. Boats are very easy to obtain compared to obsidian. The nether road requires diamond pick, thus caving which means risk and quite more food than a boat. You raise a pretty valid point though. -Boats are v...

Rebuilding villagers and unlocking trades isn't too bad. The problem is getting villagers to my base again. Huh, so no crop growth detection but fertilization change detection. Should make carrot/potato farms a lot easier to construct. Also, the bellows change made me think of a ridiculously expensive bellows timer coupling a buddy, torch and BD. expensive, but the most compact you'll find ;) From the 'S...

Re: How-to: early game mushroom/mob farm

The weird part is, I used to love the mushroom infested caves. Finding one of those was awesome. It kinda explained how mushroom biomes came to be, and if I were Mojang, I would've ran with that. Infectious mushrooms running rampant just sounds like it would be fun. And run rampant they did: 1WwNhp...

Re: How-to: early game mushroom/mob farm

Cool idea, but mushrooms don't need to be in the dark to grow. They don't grow faster in the dark either, so I just light up my mushroom farms. Yikes...what? Did this change at some point? What I had assumed to be the risk/reward of creating a mushroom farm by having to put some thought into buildi...

A strange thing that keeps happening--and I don't know whether this is a bug or a known quirk--is that almost always the buddy block will trigger for no reason at all a few minutes after being placed. It seems only to happen when I am near by, however, and can be quite annoying with false alarms wh...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of April 29th)

On the bright side, it's fixed now. In the end I decided to make food and potions single-use per click (as in continuing to hold the button doesn't eat a second one) to get around it, as correcting it other ways would have either taken extensive base class mods, or messed with other aspects of this...

Re: Golden Dung Speculation/Investigation (Spoilers)

i get the feeling golden dung is more of a statement then a feature. in other words it was most likely added to reflect FC's attitude towards mojang's currenly accepted and rather limited uses for gold. hence "it dosnt do anything." This was my thought too, and kind of what I was getting ...

Re: Flower's Dev Diary (Week of April 29th)

My guess would be that it is the check to see if a mob has sight on the player. So this could mean they agro on the player when they see them, or when the player is sprinting. Running from mobs in a cave would suddenly be a lot more dangerous.
