Re: Squids greatest weakness is waist high water
If your in 1 block of water, they both won't launch you, and can't reach your head to start damaging you. Doing this out in the ocean on a small island leaves you looking like the squid whisperer by morning. I imagine it could be used for impromptu ink and gland farming as well. https://i.imgur.com/...

Squids greatest weakness is waist high water
While it's saved my life a couple times it feels odd that the best way to counter squids if you're out in a boat is to find the closest small island and spend the night standing in a 1 high block of water.

Crafting loose cobblestone/brick stairs
Having to craft loose cobblestone or loose brick back into stone/brick to make stairs had me confused for a good bit. Feels a bit awkward when you're used to using full blocks to make stairs.

Re: Embargo Lifted! (Open Early Game Discussion)
With you there Jorge on the diamonds taking hours usually. Only reason I managed to get diamonds on my current world is by finding a double ravine straight down to 3rd strata. Even still I probably went through a full stack of torches finding the 3 I needed.

Re: No more creepers? (Spoilers?)
I've had something similar, though it changes with time. It almost seems like the spawn rates change every day or two as I've had days where the only thing outside when I go out is 7 spiders and maybe a zombie, and last time I went caving I ran into 10 creepers and one skeleton. I've also been notic...

Re: Conflict between mcpatcher CTM and Version 4.AAHHHHHHhhh
I have downloaded v5.03 but every time I try I get an error message that MCpatcher only supports the new launcher. Point of clarification, up to this point I was using the old launcher that no longer connects to minecraft.net. Never played multiplayer or anything besides btw so I didn't see the poin...

Re: Conflict between mcpatcher CTM and Version 4.AAHHHHHHhhh
When I was testing I wasn't using any texture pack just to make sure.
Given that I'm the only one that seems to be hit by it, it might be me still using the old launcher and mcpatcher v3.0.4_2. Guess it might finally be time to make the switch.

Conflict between mcpatcher CTM and Version 4.AAHHHHHHhhh
Not sure if this should go in tech support or bug report but when I updated to Version 4.AAHHHHHHhhhhhh minecraft would crash anytime a campfire went out and then crash on load as well. I managed to determine that connected textures was the problem. Here's a crash report if you're interested ---- Mi...

-Added a new Clay Block which is crafted with 9 Clay Balls either in the crafting grid or through Hardcore Packing. For the most part it's functionally equivalent to the old naturally generated Clay blocks, which have been changed to have a new look, and to only drop a single Clay Ball and some dir...

Re: Your worst BTW starts
I'm mostly fine now, but if ocean spawns do break HCS that much I'll probably will just get another seed. Doesn't feel right to play BTW if HCS is just going to put me in the same few places when I inevitably screw up.

Your worst BTW starts
After a long break I just started playing BTW again but since my old worlds were all pretty developed I decided to go at it again from the beginning. In turn I was greeted with the worst string of poor spawn luck I've ever had. -I started underwater deep enough to have the gloom status effect -Upon ...

Re: A beginner's woe
If you've got the set up, you don't even need chickens and can survive on just pumpkins or melons. I only set up my auto egg farm so that I'd have to carry less food on exploration ventures in the nether. After a while I stopped caring about finding village so much, so I haven't been using that too ...

I know I keep HCB off purely for lava aesthetics and fountain type structures. All other things are done with screw pumps.

Re: New Release! (BTW V4.70)
Huh, definitely not looking forward to the next time I die. Looks rather painful, though going from re-usable iron to stone should be. Not quite willing to start a new world/suicide to check the new new early game yet what with having just reached zero automation steel and all, but it does give me e...

You might actually have the old texture pack cause all my pedestals and fences seem to be loading fine in my texture pack test world.

Re: Absolute Beginner's Guide to Surviving Better Than Wolve
Another small thing to add. If you're thinking of settling down for a bit and have found a good hunting ground, building outside of spawn distance and making a small path back to the hunting grounds can greatly extend it's usability.

Bows are also very useful, and you should probably get one if you can. They're great for dealing with tree camping skeletons and creepers. They do about as much damage as iron swords too.

Re: 4.65 Balance Observations and Discussion (SPOILERS)
So I've got a small base now with some chickens and I've found spiders don't really like chickens. One crawled into my chicken pit and managed to off 2 of them. Now it's properly caged off and I have a small pumpkin/hemp farm set up. Mushroom omelets are amazing, though I've unfortunately lost the o...

Re: 4.65 Balance Observations and Discussion (SPOILERS)
After a long time away from minecraft I decided to come back to try this out and I am enjoying it so far. A few observations -Starting in an ocean biome really sucks. My first life was spent blindly going around the ocean with a shovel, pickaxe, and a boat. I was rather lucky in that the island I st...
