I've confirmed otherwise. Interestingly, the Nether is not superflat when you do that.001010 wrote:Last time I checked you can't activate a nether portal in super flat, you can set the frame on fire, but it won't turn into a portal.

Re: If I made an IRC channel, would people use it?
I visited once but when I was the only one there, I wasn't sure I was in the right place and never did try again later. There's no reason to lurk in an empty channel. I'd gladly add it to the channels I'm always in if it could have some periodic activity.

Re: Upgrading my PC
A friend who I trust as reliable (and who helped me pick parts for my current computer) has advised me to hold off on graphics cards altogether for a few months. According to him, both major graphics card companies are going to transfer to new manufacturing practices and designs this year that shoul...

Re: Morvelaira's News Compilation
I've realized an additional bonus of the way iron golems work. Adventure maps that have very difficult battles in them, or are in places overwhelming, could provide a certain amount of iron blocks and pumpkins at the start to serve as an aid that can easily be carefully regulated for each map (just ...

Re: Minimum post count before posting to this forum
For what little it's worth, I support this. Better Than Wolves is already well enough established that good suggestions that haven't already been made or already considered/planned for by FlowerChild are fairly rare at this point. The requirement would most likely prevent quite a lot of the crap tha...

Re: For the birds
Yay, another competitor to the awful Mo' Creatures! It desperately needs more competition, if nothing else then to open people's eyes to how horrible it is. I'm not even talking about the stagnated and inferior creature models; it's the design choices of the mod that utterly ruin it for me. And the ...

Re: Morvelaira's News Compilation
I'm not too bothered by it because of the already stated reason that it promotes track systems (their only remaining use at this point for people keeping up to date with Minecraft inventions is mob transportation and taking less effort to build than the current most effective means of transportation...

It/they've been available throughout their production. The point is trying to earn as much money coming in during production as possible for charity purposes. There's a little over half an hour left at this point. It looks like they're going to fall far short of the million they were hoping for and ...

Re: New Dwarf Fortress version is out!
I've also heard about creating a perpendicular walkway above your main entrance hallway that only opened towards the rest of your fortress. That meant that by the time line of sight was established, it was your dwarves on those defenses facing the backs of their army passing underneath them. Sounds ...
Re: Obsession
An obsession such as game design is unlikely to hurt anyone else, especially since most of it is mental and record keeping. The only one it's likely to harm is yourself and... anyone who negligence on your part could cause harm to. Considering that, this obsession of yours is only unhealthy if it ge...

Even if drops are changed in that manner, funnels with non-lethal fall damage deal with that quite well. Water currents still work too, even if it might not be as well as they once did. I've seen water current traps for both slimes and spiders functioning quite well in the latest release (not snapsh...

Re: "Mojam"
I can't see Mojang managing a game that I'd truly consider horror. Minecraft can get creepy in certain situations, but the creepy factor is more of a happy accident so to speak than purposeful design. ...that said, there was that ghost boss room from that first Ludum Dare entry Notch streamed. That ...

Re: New Dwarf Fortress version is out!
I haven't been able to bear the UI to play it at all either, but I've read up about it extensively and am probably as enamored with the game as someone who hasn't played it can be. It does sound like a fantastic game... but there's no way I'd be able to keep track of everything with a UI like that a...

They apparently run faster than zombies shamble and can usually outrun them. Which means you tend to already have survivors, even without actual self-defense added yet.

They already have. Before now, it's just required a mod to accompany it beyond the terrain generation itself.

Three reeds can be crafted into three paper. How is that more tedious than placing it in front of a saw? Place the reeds, shift click the paper that results, place the paper, shift click the books. Quite fast.

Why would you not? There's only two that are at all less "worth it" than the other songs, and those help the feel of the album of the whole. It's probably cheaper to buy all the songs in one pop than to buy 20 of them. Heck, buy the game too while you're at it. Steam has a package deal on ...

I think he means if the blocks projected by the lense melt ice, he'd place it running down his irrigation one block over it, not level with it. But that seems too close to the behavior FlowerChild has said was unintended.

Re: Sidings/Mouldings/Corners?
Thinking about it a bit more, being thorough with the leaves would use at the very least four block IDs due to the four kinds of leaves, right? I suppose I'll withdraw my vote for leaves if that is the case, considering there are only two slots left.

Re: Sidings/Mouldings/Corners?
Glowstone sounds a little OP for a choice to me. Cut one block into 8 corners and you get 8 light source "blocks" that barely get in your way. Out of four dust. Sounds a little too efficient to me unless their light value is cut accordingly. I am absolutely compelled to second the leaf blo...
