Re: Villager farm gone wrong+comp crash=massive lag. Help pl

Yeah, I've seen that kind of error message before- somebody else on this forum actually had the same issue. Definitely one or more corrupted chunks. You want to get rid of them ASAP. Don't try to repair them, don't try to fix them- something is very wrong with data which is not supposed to change, d...

Re: Validity of BTW 'exploits'

Thank you all for your advice- it's all about what makes this game and community special. I think the problem for me was that I had the mentality of a min/max-er- I had decided on a set of rules (what the community and FlowerChild agreed was the best way to play) and kept trying to give myself the b...

I would search for the models' official specs to get their RPM speed.
Also, how hot are we talking?

Re: Validity of BTW 'exploits'

I've personally always defined an exploit as a method that exists in gameplay which, not due to the effects of a bug or technical problem, gives the player benefit far beyond what was originally intended by the designer. Many times, an exploit will change the dynamics of a game entirely, since havi...

Validity of BTW 'exploits'

I've noticed that this community has, on numerous occasions, annoyed FlowerChild by introducing what he considers "exploits" in the game to others. This is, of course, a perfectly legitimate reason to be annoyed as FlowerChild then has to patch out the exploit and the other players who use...

Re: Morvelaira's News Compilation

I think it could work pretty well. Maybe a 'flint-and-steel-used' flag could be stored for a minute or two, or you could just have all fire entities store whether they were placed by a player. Fall damage and suffocation would be easier to work with- IF{they were pushed by steve OR by a piston OR th...

Re: Morvelaira's News Compilation

Can we not bring up "evil" again? Oh, sorry. I forgot about that. Getting back on topic (and away from that other one), thinking more about it I doubt the 'punishment for killing villagers' is going to be much of a problem. It will be the same as it is with zombie pigmen- "oops, your...

Re: Morvelaira's News Compilation

Am I the only one who thinks that this could be fantastic for BTW? FC has stated for a while that he wants the game to become more difficult as you progress. Progressing in BTW involves becoming a little unhinged and evil. Mojang is setting up consequences for being evil. Vanilla MC's going to tie i...

Update problems for other mods

Hey, I was reading through Flower's update journal thread when I realized something. This update has restructured a huge amount of code, making it very difficult for him. But what about those mods which perform even more invasive changes to the codebase. Just how screwed is, for example, Forge? A he...

Re: Ores dropping experience when destroyed by a mob.

On topic with the suggestion- FC you might need to make a decision about whether or not you like this- mining charges might need to be modified so that they do or don't cause XP drops. I don't want to be presumptuous or make a big deal out of an overly simple issue, and I especially don't want to ca...

I failed to connect any of my buildings, installed somnia and just ran around gathering items and maintaining my 'automated' systems. For several weeks. I fear what will happen is that this block will be included in creative only, but so many people will want it in survival that Jeb adds an actual recipe for it :0 Knowing Jeb, that is incredibly likely. Nah, somebody tweeted a recipe suggestion to Jeb and he seemed to be pretty surprised: @Kalter__...

Re: Need tips or inspiration for water transport

If you need to build up high (above y=100-ish) I'd suggest hacking in a single block of ice to your inventory when you start your world. If this feels like cheating to you (everyone has their own rules in MC) then you'll just have to search until you find the highest source block you can and limit y...

Re: Your spectacular IE Library! (Spoiler)

I really like the new superlibrary idea. It's really nice to see more physical structures-with-function in BTW, as kilns were always my favorite thing to design around. Actually, their addition is what's making me get back into BTW (I 'finished' tech tree in last world, started automating more compl...

Re: BTW worlds corrupting

Just wondering, does anybody know what the probable cause of this was?
The server my girlfriend plays on has had corruption issues in the past, and I'm curious as to why it happens.

Is it MC screwing up and writing invalid data? Or is it more related to actual OS or data storage failure?

Semi-technical RAMdisk query

Hey guys, I've recently bought a pretty powerful system, but wasn't able to get a SSD at the time. To make up for the lack of an SSD I picked up 16GB of fast RAM (as good-brand DDR3 memory seems to be dirt cheap these days) and have been using ~4GB of it as a RAMdisk (you wouldn't believe how many L...

For me, the easiest way to understand it is to look at it like this: (for those actually familiar with mathematics, please forgive my improper use of terms/symbols). Group the three doors into two groups, x and y. x is the door you picked, while y are the other two. x = 1/3, y = 2/3. Because that's ...
