Re: ExtraBiomesXL!
Extrabiomes classic doesn't really add anything interesting to world gen: It's not really worth the experiment. The regular version was frigging beautiful. The problem is that they take up soooooo many block IDs. He says he's going to shift to using damage values next update, which will keep down th...

Re: What do you do on a new world?
First I decide what my architectural theme is going to be. On my first world, I went with Frank Lloyd Wright. On my BTB world, I decided on Scandanavian modern. For my current world I'm rocking the Pacific Islander motif. Then I spend like a week trying different seeds until I find one I like. I'll ...

Re: ExtraBiomesXL!
I played around with this a few weeks ago, it didn't use forge then. I can tell you that it doesn't make any effort to stop conflicting biomes whatsoever.

Re: Semi-Auto turntable - no lapis
When I had over a dozen instances of the infinite pottery system, my timing got messed up by lag caused by the machine, as well as chunk loading.

Re: Semi-Auto turntable - no lapis
I've used a similar build. I prefer timing off a turntable and a Block Dispenser/cotton array to using a BUDdy block. What I've found is that there's always a little wiggle to the timing: It seems like you either undershoot and sometimes get a vase, or overshoot and sometimes get nothing but clay ba...

Re: Show us your builds!
I don't know, Raust. If you are running your mechanical power through a 1 block hole in a wall, and put the hopper right against the wall, you are mostly there. Sure, from the bottom you can see down the hole, but putting a gearbox right there prevents the hole from being more than 1 deep. Don't for...

I don't, personally, believe in ownership of ideas. If I didn't want you to use my designs, I wouldn't share them. That way people can solve other design problems, and I can steal their ideas in turn.

Sweet revenge. It's more than that for me. Squirrels eat the tomatoes from my garden. But I have a rule around here, see. The calories from my garden are MINE. I'm gonna get them one way or another. Prepared correctly, squirrel is delicious. Here's a little IRL tech tree for you: Acorns are actuall...

Re: Show us your builds!
@TheAnarchitect: You sir are a master of design. Thanks a bunch. Oddly enough, that's literally the truth. I have a master's degree in design. Minecraft makes it really really easy to make mega-scale construction. So for me, the challenge has become to make everything as small as possible. I spend ...

Re: I found an Iron Vain!!!!
I do the same thing: I have a non-lethal trap, but I kill anything I catch in it. There *IS* a good reason for this. I have cats that I care about. My neighbors also have pets. Before I kill anything, I want to confirm that it's something that needs to die. Having a live trap lets me sort out the ca...

Hehe...what I'm interested in seeing is how quickly you taking over BTB slowly mutates you from being a helpful, friendly, cheerful individual, into some nasty, bitter creature such as myself ;) Maybe this is why that professor told me I should not be a programmer? Did not want to see lovely little...

In a similar vein, I'm currently tearing out a patio, putting in a fence, and starting my garden. I refer to this as "Minecraft LARPing" because that convinces me to actually get off the computer and go outside to do it.

Actually, I think this may be advantageous in a way. The creeper deterrent system has just become placing a chests around your perimeter and then taming cats.

I gave up on it, having not noticed it helping much. Can you just hold it, or do you have to time it perfectly?

Re: Minecraft 1.2.4 Discussion
I'm really torn. On the one hand, I've been wanting different shades of wood for a long, long time. On the other hand, unless they've also added half slabs and stairs for every variety, It's not gonna be that useful. And yeah, I'm gonna need BTW saw blocks too. Otherwise, I won't be able to take too...

Re: Morvelaira's News Compilation
Wait, does this mean no more fireproof wood walls by stacking half-slab wood? Also, unless those wood types have matching half-slabs and stairs, I'm gonna be grumpy about this. I like where it's going, but it's not there yet. Finally, FC, consider this an official request NOT to waste time updating ...

I actually really like yours, Maxsi. I definitely respect being able to execute the "standard" well. Your sense of proportion and scale are very good there.

Here's the windmill I put together for my Castaway Island:
I wanted a "lashed together Logs" look. As soon as I have enough hemp, I'll be replacing the joints with rope coil blocks.
