Is there any way to get modloader 1.4.7 so I can play BTW?

I'm involved with some friends on a small vanilla server, and I was wondering -before I get back in the BTW groove- if having BTW installed has any effect on the game while playing vanilla SMP?

You could get to the nether. I think obsidian shows up in chests or you could get one lava from each blacksmith. Ok, so it was missing something stupid. Check. I guess I just assumed that the first BTW update after a MC update would be for compatibility. My bad.

Starting with a fresh 1.1 jar file (which is 3772 KB, right), Minecraft loads fine. I drop in the modloader files, delete META-INF, run Minecraft to test, all is well, exit, drop in the 3.49 Minecraft-JAR folder into the .jar, then Minecraft gets stuck on a screen that says "Updating, done"...

I've seen Somnia mentioned dozens of times on these boards so I checked it out. I think I like it. Can I just drop it in on top of BTW or is there anything special I need to do to make sure nothing breaks? Thanks!

Or do I need a fresh .jar with modloader and nothing else before I add in the latest BTW update?
