Re: Are half blocks a good idea?
So everyone would prefer it if the world of minecraft were naturalistic? You only play minecraft because there is nothing similar using a more true-to-real engine?

Re: Are half blocks a good idea?
It is easier to make exactly what you want. I'm saying that is bad. Aesthetics is no longer involves as many tradeoffs and compromises, it just becomes a matter of design.
Making things look good in Minecraft used to be a game, now it is moving towards being an exercise.

Are half blocks a good idea?
I don't like having so many decorative options. Being able to build whatever you want with no constraints is not as good as being able to make whatever you want but under some interesting constraints. I think half blocks (and ilk) damage the minecraft experience and aesthetic. Does anyone agree with...

Just plan a whole bunch of awesome structures, tell a bunch of people how great they will be, and then never build them.
Congratulations, you have successfully added the effects of hemp smoking to your minecraft world.

Re: Making arcane scrolls
But, you aren't reading the whole thing. You still need a massive monster farm, arguably a bigger one, to get the same output, because you need shit tons of xp. Also, you could still go with the other path. This is simply another path you could take. You need one monster farm, to collect a resource...

Re: Making arcane scrolls
I, personally, think it would be interesting to be able to, instead of (or, in addition to) keeping a mob farm to farm the scrolls, you could put an arcane scroll and a piece of paper into the arcane enchanter, and turn the paper into a scroll without spending the first one. Naturally this would re...

Wow, that looks great, Awfulcopter! You should probably try Eriottosan's Japanese Architecture mod :) For sure. It was his mod that inspired me to go with this theme. I wanted to get the basic building established with only BTW blocks, so that if ever the Japanese Architecture mod loses compatabili...

A Japanese-style castle built in a seed provided by kregoth. The castle is being built in hard mode with HCB on. This first picture is from an early stage of construction. I estimate about 20% of my building time is spent recovering from plummets to my death. http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/6157/...

Re: Lost in the Tech-tree
That's what I do. Set up an ugly cube with a windmill on the side, and establish a temporary workshop. Then work on nice buildings for each station and move them out of the temporary structure one at a time, until I can tear it down, or turn it into a ruin.

It's a little thing that no one cares about anymore, but in many pictures the white of the flower touches the grey of the background. Both white and grey are counted as Argent in heraldry. And it is not correct heraldry to have argent touching argent. Three is my favorite, except for the stem that s...

Suggestions should have paperwork you need to fill out. Make it a requirement that suggestions all be submitted in the same way, according to a form. If you had to do even a little bit more that vomit your thought stream into text people would post fewer suggestions. And by having a form that requir...

The issue is, pot and cauldron with nethery stuff becomes a perpetuum mobile, which I find boring. What if make then require water to cook? So, you have to fill the thing with a bucket of water, and when pot is heated water slowly starts boiling away. When it riches zero all food inside will burn a...
